well based on your like of Howie Day and the All American Rejects and Dashboard Confessional I would suggest a north carolina artist named Edwin McCain and specificly the album called Messenger would be best for you

Also I would reccomend some old 90's bands those being:

Toad The Wet Sprocket

Weezer

10,000 Maniacs (when natalie merchant was a member her last album was the Our Time In Eden album with them)

John Mellencamp (anything from the Scarecrow album to Mister Happy Go Lucky)

Mathew Sweet (anything from the Girlfriend album to the Best of 90/00 albums)

and of course a really good band from kansas city that has rarely gotten play called The Jayhawks and I would reccomend the Smile album as a good start and either go forward to the Rainy Day Music album or back to the Hollywood Town Hall album

and finally i'd reccomend a semi new artist being The Atari's the album I'd reccomend is the So Long Astoria album

check these bands out and see if you like any of em maybe you'll find 1 or more you like

it seem that you have the same music tastes that i do. I would suggest some of the classics (led zeppelin, jimi hendrix, pink floyd, etc.). Some of the bands you named have some great guitar work, so look for some of that, too. Stairway to heaven (led zeppelin) has awesome guitar picking and strumming. And you should check out John Mayer. He has great guitar with a mellow sound, with seem to be just your thing. Some Green Day is pretty good, too (Whatsername, off of American Idiot), along with Yellowcard (Only One, Empty Apartment, Back Home - all off of Ocean Avenue).

I hope i gave you some good suggestions. You have some great tastes in music, being you don't like hip-hop or rap!
