hey!
dont worry its quite hard to "break" a guitar (unless you plan on thrashing around with it)
if you just keep the dust of it, and dont leave it anywhere where it will get damp or wet. if you can, keep it in a case when you arent using it this will make sure you dont spill anything on it or scratch it in anyway. dont worry too much if a string breaks because they're easy and affordable to fix.
the only way you'll break it is if you strap it on and thrash around with it and knock it into something. if you are generally careful with it, you'll be fine :)

Depends on what type of music you play. Fender Strat. - Best electric for bluesy smooth playing PRS - more classic rock feel These are my top 2. There are a million different choices, but plan on spending some money, becuse it will be worth it to get a decent guitar. Don't get like a Yamaha or crappy brand that you will literally be kicking yourself for buying like 4 months down the road. Research and go in and play around on some. most guitar shops will let you. I say you get a taylor acoustic. - best quality sound by far, and I know it is not electric, but its so close to perfect. Also, if you are getting an electric, get a good delay pedal... you can play solos along with whatever you create. DON'T BUY A SQUIER!!!

don't just break it for no good reason. try to keep it in good condition.
keep the dust off it by keeping it in its case when you're not playing it.
use a slightly damp and clean cloth to remove any sweat or grime that gets on the finsih after playing it.
wip off the strings after playing.
have the guitar appraised by a trustworthy local dealer, just to be sure the guitar isn't a $50 special from K-mart (it won't be worth putting that much effort into except as a keepsake). OR if it's a rare jem, then you can ask that dealer for poper care instructions.

get a soft cloth and rub down the guitar's body and strings after playing it. Don't expose the guitar to extreme temperatures. Keep it in a hard case to keep dust off and to keep the guitar in tune.
