What is it about HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL??

Question

I haven't seen this show, or movie or whatever it was (I am well over the typical Disney viewer age). What is so great about this show? I see on ITUNES the soundtrack was #1, now somebody named Corbin is #1. What makes this so great? Is the singing actually good? Is it just some Disney production like the MMC?

Just wondering as it seems everywhere I look it is in my face - but I've never seen a Disney Channel live action show/movie do so visibly well to adults.

Please explain - best answer gets 10 points!

I didn't have a clue what it was either - and I didn't plan to find out. I know what you mean - overnight it was suddenly like IN YOUR FACE, and everybody seemed to have seen it.

Didn't fancy the idea.

And it's a pretty crap movie, to be honest.

But at the same time, there's something about it that everbody seems to secretly love. It's like going into Woolworths and pressing the "Try Me" buttons whilst trying to look casual and nonchalant, when you'e actually secretly delighted by the sound it makes. Or drawing patterns in the dust on the back of a car, even though you're far too old to find the word "BUM" amusing.

It's just such a cheesy, typical teen film that every typical teen adores it - despite apparently rebelling against everything it stands for. It's kinda cute, I suppose.

And yeah - the singing's great. I love the songs. And although it's all too obvious that they've been enhanced beyond belief, nobody actually seems to care - because the end result it a sweeter-than-sweet love song that everybody will sing in the privacy of their own rooms, and hide on their MP3 player under "Eminem."

The whole population of my school pretends not to like it, but everybody knows that everybody else does - and so does every magazine in the country - hence the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL IN YO' FACE-ness.

And of course, the fact that the lead guy is utterly shaggable must help.

From what I have seen (not that I have watched it... you know, previews) its some gay show or movie about a bunch of kids singing like pansys and dancing on a basketball court.

...nothing beats spontaneous group singing and dancing in the middle of the school cafeteria. I always love the rare opportunity to bust into song and dance.

I havent seen it myself
but most of my peer [which are in high school] rave about how great it was
one of my friends saw it, and she wouldnt shut up for about a month
when another saw it, she said she had no idea what the fuss was about because it was terrible

i dont think its really aimed at an adult audience, but people just enjoy watching it
it is, as it says in the title, a music....its made to entertain

i guess in the end you should watch it, just to form your own opinion on the matter

Unless you're retarded or is sailing on the same "I'm old but wanna be young" boat like Michael Jackson, you best avoid this show. Any "mature" person would tell you that the first few minutes of viewing High School Musical is excruciating mental torture.
