How true is it that phone calls make in voting the "American Idols" are free in America? Because in Singapore, we are made to pay for the phone calls for voting. If the voting calls are free in America then Singaporeans are so stupid and silly ! agree ?

Don't be so hard on yourself.
The Americans who vote for this crap are stupid and silly too.
Of course you have to pay to vote on something that's none of your business.
Especially if it's halfway around the world.
It's not called Singaporean Idol is it?
Your single vote won't change the results anyway so you would be wasting money if you call.

Because in several instances that is what the office actually represents. Like it or not, America's economy is the single most important in the world; not the only one, or even the only large one, but the single most important. American economic health does rub off on the rest of the world, just like it's distress does. Politically it is much the same. America has the clout and the reach to affect people, for better or worse, far beyond its borders in a way that other individual nations, and even collections of nations, ie. the EU, does not. Culturally the situation is not much different. American tastes in everything from clothes, to music, to cars, to soda, and television programming - have a global reach. This impact amazes me at times, too, but it is a reality. Are Americans as a whole arrogant in respect to their position in the world? Probably not. America is a country such that the average joe or jane does not need to be terribly aware of the world at large. Are certain American leaders guilty of arrogance? Yes - if no more so than others; ie. the French. America is resented in the world at large for its economic might, its military reach, and its cultural influence. Arguably this has been the case since before the Second World War.

The phone calls are free, but I think there is a charge for voting by text message.

yes coz they pay the bills monthly so to u it seems like it's free but it's not and even though it was for free it doesn't mean Singaporeans are stupid and silly.
