they are currently in the studio, and hope to release the album (produced by Rick Rubin) by fall of 2007.
bono has stated many times in public interviews that the musical direction of this album will be a little different than the previous two. yay! =)

It's said that since they released the U218 album of hit singles it will take another while (rumored Nov.' 07) for them to pace the whole commercial process out and release another full new album. Bono is now recording material with the Irish folk/rock band The Corrs for their coming album,but that's the norm for a guy like him. GET BACK IN THE STUDIO! Haha~

I read over the weekend that they are going into the studio this spring and a new record will be out by the end of the year.Hope this helps!
