As I said in another post, my dad and granddad were freemasons.
Simply put, the book I found was so boring I don't remember any of it.
However, freemasons take a pledge to never give up their secrets, and if I had picked up any, none were in the book or dad would not have had in around... but if I had picked up some, I would not say out of respect for their memory.

I just wanted to be the first to trot out that old cliche....
It's not a secret society, it is a society with secrets.
Actually their secrets are a load of rubbish. They are just a bunch of guys who do good work there is nothing sinister about them.
If you are ever in court, or get pulled over by the cops remember to tug your ear lobe. This means "mason in distress".
Here's another couple of interesting ones. If you hear someone say they are going to "square things up" this is a masonic expression. So is "on the level".
But in general, they are good people, like I said- NOT sinister. We have nothing to fear from freemasonry.
Incidentally they refer to the rest of us as "THE PROFANE" , which is slightly insulting, I suppose.

Freemasonry is an oath bound Fraternal order of men who derives from the medieval fraternity of operative Freemasonry. we adhere to many of the Ancient Charges, laws, customs and legends of operative Freemasonry. we are loyal to the civilian government under which we exist we inculcate moral and social virtues by symbolic application of the stonemasons' working tools and by allegories lectures and charges. Freemasonry obligates its members to observe the principles of brotherly love equality, mutual aid secrecy and confidence. we have secret modes of recognition that permit members to recognize each other as brothers. we require a through examination into the mental, moral and physical qualifications of a petitioner and we admit men into the Fraternity by secret ceremonies based in part on old legends of the Craft.
we are not a secret society but rather a society with secrets. suggest if you are interested in more information you contact a man whom you know to be a Freemason or go to a local Lodge. If a local Lodge is not close by then contact the Grand Lodge of Masons in the State in which you reside.
the tenets of the Free and Accepted Masonic Fraternity are " Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. "
regarding the first person's answer tugging the earlobe is not referring to " a Mason in distress " so She is wrong and I know what the sign means and am forbidden to say.

It's a secret. If I told you it wouldn't be a secret anymore. Look up "secret" in a dictionary and you'll see why you still don't know the answer. But I will give you a hint........just kidding. Even the hint is a secret.
