You are worried that your inability to lie to people is a bad thing?
Not lying to people is a good thing. Lying is bad. It hurts people. Nothing good ever came from a lie. Lying isn't a trait, its a character flaw and not one you should aspire to excel in. Be grateful you can't lie well, and stick to the truth.

I think most cultures, philosophers, and religions view honesty as a virtue. It is much more difficult to be honest and tactful rather than dishonest and tell a lie. I believe the key is to avoid situations where lying is the more preferable of options.

No, not at all. Quite the opposite in fact. If you can't lie, then you learn ways to say things without lying and without actually telling the truth. I think it makes you a better person.

interesting that this question is in books and authors, because the ability to tell a good story involves lying otherwise every book would be a text book or biography
when my wife asked, i told her i had only got her 2 christmas presents - the reason being that the 3rd would therefore come as a pleasant surprise on christmas day - was this wrong of me ?

not being able to lie is a good thing as the world is filled with enough people who lie now.if you don't beleive it just look at our goverment or you can see it in every day life
