Bilingual is a great idea, but it should not be Spainish, it should either be French or Chinese with one other language of choice tossed in and it should not be on our paperwork, laws, etc..but it should be taught and learned from a young age. Why Chinese and French? French is the language of International Relations and China is the worlds largest country population wise and looking to become the 2nd Largerst Economy soon. Also, the way your talking about, bilingual has been shown to be a poor way to teach the language to people, immersion is better and if done from a young age your right, they would soak it up. Regulated and Smart Borders-good luck, great idea, but good luck, unless Mexico has a radical change it won't happen. Free Public Health Care-it is not a right, we can make it easier to get but it is not a right. You do not want National Single Payer Health Care, it will so over regulate your day to day life eventually that everything in life will be bland and "safe", you will also find that without the incentive to make money many of the big medical break thoughs that have happened (almost all in the US or Germany) will be a thing of the past. Oh, did I mention the whole 4am MRI's, or 10pm Check Ups, etc..wait list for surgery and the fact that many Emergency Rooms in Europe are about the equal to a 1990's ER in the US? Fair Trade-we have it with many countries, those that do not sign on do not get it, those that do get it, your talking like a member of ANSWER when you talk like this, the US does not do this the way you think it does and we attempt to sign Free Trade Agreements with who ever we can.

Your education and insurance are NOT free. You pay double or triple the taxes that the USA pays. You have a value added tax of around 21 % and the tolls on some of the roads are high. Tax on gasoline is about $4.00 a gallon. I have been to Europe, especially Germany. I have lived for 91/2 years there, but I really enjoyed myself.

Nothing is free...it is all paid for with tax money. So your question, then, should be...how much am I willing to pay in taxes, and how would I like to see the tax money spent? In the US, large sums of money (taxes) are directed toward the military. In other countries in Europe and Canada, the taxation money is used to pay for a free medical system and public/private education. So the question is...do you want to live in a 'Super Power'? An interesting discussion if you involved people at all levels of income...including those that haven't got any. If you are the CEO of a major corporation, you want to know that your government is doing all they can to protect your right to make millions of dollars every year. If, however, you are living under a bridge, how important is it to you that you live in a country with a powerful military? Its all a matter of perspective...

It is NOT free in Europe!
Tax rates in Europe are MUCH higher than in the USA.
Most countries have sales taxes, called VAT, that run from 16% - 21%.
Income taxes are typically double what Americans pay.
Taxes on gasoline exceed $4.00 per gallon in most European countries.
Most countries require an annual license to use a TV and some even require one for radios.
In the UK you have to buy a tax disk for your car. The cost can exceed US $300.00 per year. Other countries have similar taxes and fees.
Many European roads charge very high tolls for their use. It will cost you over $80 in tolls to drive from Paris to the Loire Valley -- a couple of hundred miles. From Calais to the Spanish border may cost you nearly $250 in tolls and at least one bridge costs about $50.00 to cross.
Americans love to complain about high taxes, but most Americans have NO CLUE what high taxes are all about. The US has some of if not THE lowest taxes of any industrialized nation on the planet.

that would be communism and would fail. We like to strive for our goals. We would not have gone to the Moon or be a SUPER power. We would be over taxed under employed and begging France for aid. Sorry Follow the leaders not the losers.

We don't want to be like Europe.
We want to keep our high standard of living and avoid becoming a declining Welfare State, where no one has much.
We may be heading there, also.
The Democrats want to turn the USA into a Socialist & Welfare State.
