Some students go away to do a "gap" year before uni, normally 1) travel to places, 2) help with community projects for some time and 3) intern for a while to gain some knowledge. Check out what others do for their gap year -- http://www.gapyear.com/

Working and living in England is not such a problem, plus you get to meet people and improve your spoken English further. Probably go for something that can leverage your language / experience instead of McDonald's. Living costs is not that much higher than in Germany but depending on where you're from originally you might find things are a little more expensive here in UK, e.g. accomodation.

This advice is not so much in regards to living or working in England as it is towards your decision on furthering your education.
For a lot of people, it is the best route to go straight to college after high school- but not always. Don't be afraid to take a year off and see what its like. The time can help you to better see what sort of career choices you might be interested in when you do decide to go to college, and can help you get your priorities straight and focus on what you want to do in your life ifg you're a bit undecided. So, don't feel especially pressured to go to college RIGHT NOW, but I agree with the other answerer- keep your priorities high- you will never regret that.

Set your ambitions a little higher and finish college and get a qualification that is going to earn you real money. I fyou want to travel, the oil and gas industry is very good, once you get your qualifications.

Start a new life in England, if you like. Your relatives will be of help, no doubt. Be happy.
