If you're talking what you can get for the money you spend, it's the PS3, easily.
1. PS3 is 600 US bucks, but you get 60 gb instead of 20 gb on the 360.
2. They both have wireless controllers.
3. I don't think this matters at all, but some fanboys will argue that since XBL costs 50 US bucks a month and most consoles have about a 5 year life span, that's an additional 250 US bucks, while Sony Online is free.
4. Blu-ray vs. DVD drive. Add another 200 if you want the HD-DVD player add on.
5. PS3 has Wi-Fi connection, while it'll cost you another 100 to get the MS wireless adapter.
6. Sony has slots for USB, Memory Stick, SD, Compact Flash. MS just has USB.
So far: To make everything that the 360 can do that the PS3 can do, it'll cost you at least 700 bucks (950 bucks if you include XBL), and there's no way to make the 360 accept Memory Stick (like that will ever appear on an MS product), SD, Compact Flash).
It's still too early to know which format, if any, will win the next gen format for high capacity storage. But based on the companies supporting which format, Blu-ray should win since it has most of the big name companies supporting it, like Sony, Apple, Dell, HP, Mitsubishi, Disney, but HD-DVD has the advantage of the HD, DVD name since most consumers already know about HD and DVD, so it's easier for them to relate to the HD-DVD name.

360 if u r not satisfied lemme tell u a chainmail i started:
CRITICIZING THE PS3
DOWN WITH THE PS3!! THE XBOX 360!! the PS3 has many features such as internet, chat and game downloads but you have a computer to do that! its just a PS2 that has a controller with no wire!!!! And believe me, the PS2 is no good console: you can't take a game out when you are playing the game, you can only have 2 players play and you have to buy a stupid multitap, half of the games are in japanese, and it overheats. SONY is just demolishing the wall fram a PC and a console, when you already have a PC!!! its like buying a webcam with a microphone in it when you have both already!!!!!! buying things which have more than one ability is not as good as a thing which ALWAYS specialize in one ability. try opening 20 web pages on your computer each on a different address you will find it is MUCH slower than having ONE webpage with ONE address, same principle! The XBOX 360 is the ideal game for people with a veriety of games at their minds, shooters, RPG, racing, strategy and includes 4 player controller port for multiplayer fans. ALSO, it has a great library of reknowned and even famous games such as the new GEARS OF WAR for FPS fans and TPS fans, dynasty warriors for OLD SKOOL players and of course the classic, HALO HALO2 and of course the upcoming hard-core, fantastic, ausome HALO3!!!!!!!!!!!!! The xbox 360 also includes online play but not internet browsing, xbox live is enough to sustain a good life for people that don't have much company at their house. would you risk over 400pounds to get something you already have? or a reasonable 400 for the 360. and to tip the edge a tincy more, the xbox controller is much more comfortable and easy to get used to than the PS3. a console is a console, a PC is a PC! why try to change it? its just gonna make it worse in the same ability! of course the PS3 will have some exclusive games but the best games will always come on both consoles.

Right now, the 360 is a better system. More games, more exclusive games, more games that are simply worth playing.
Yes, you have PS2 games. However, I am going to guess that your PS2 still works, so you have something to play those games on already.
As for Blu-Ray, well, there really are not that many movies out there on either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD format, and it is difficult to say which format, if either format, will come out on top. Odds are someone is buying the new Beta for DVD, question is which format will survive, which will die?
I would guess that in a year when the PS3 has more games out and is easier to purchase, they will really be worth the money. For right now, it's just not worth it.

Right now, the 360 is the better value. Greattotal entertainment package. Most of their games ARE backwards compatible whereas ps3 is having alot of problems with that issue.
However, in the future after the bugs are out of it, ps3 will far exceed the xbox. Even the software creators aren't using the full capacity of it's technology. But they will.
So for gaming, xbox. For the future of entertainment, ps3. play station is losing no less than $200 on each unit to get these things out with all the advanced technology they've got in it.

Yes the Ps3 is the better choice not just for the games. All in all the xbox will cost you more money in the long run if you play online. you have to pay for the time you play. You dont have to on the ps3. Ps3 all the way.
