"If the BBC are confident that they are providing a good service, let them fund it through advertising"

Not for him or any other MP it is not. The reason for that is that they don't pay for their TV license. We the taxpayer do that and they claim it through expenses whether for their first, second, third or fourth home. It is taxation forced on the rest of us by government to keep some of their cronies snouts in the hog trough in the hope the BBC won't slate them in the news programs. The Tories are always going to go against the BBC though as it is money they can't get to in order to fund the Conservative party in any way. Or can they? That is the real question and he may be saying this in the hopes it will help force the BBC to find some way to put funds into their party. Murdoch does this pretty well at the moment and its why the Tories like newscorp more than the BBC. Point is that this guy is a shyster just like all other MPs and he is only trying to get funding or frighten someone into supporting his and his parties policies. Sort of goes with the job if you know what I mean. He isn't interested in representing the populace, just himself and his party.

I really dont understand how the BBC can say that we are getting our moneys worth from the licence. It goes up every year but the quality of viewing doesnt get any better. I seem to watch the other 3 channels more that the BBC who seem to put on more "watchable" television and do not even charge us for it!

When i was living at uni the licence people even had the cheek to try to ask for a licence for everyone in the flat as a communial licence does not count. That means that if we all did get a licence we would have had to pay over £700 got the 6 of us to watch really bad television. It is out of order.

BBC, get adverts!

Absolutely not. I personally feel that the license fee charged is legal mugging. Consider, how many watch BBC only...very few, but we have to pay the fee in order to watch other channels, freeview, sky or cable. Although, why aren't the other channels getting on the bandwagon and complaining too.

Absolutely not.

Have a look at how it is spent here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/info/licencefee/

They try and manipulate the numbers by breaking it down into monthly amounts.

Why should we pay for something that benefits the rest of the wrold? ie the bbc.co.uk website. And on that site take a look at
https://jam.bbc.co.uk/

BBC Jam is an online education service paid for by the license fee. Don't we pay for education services with income tax?

IThe whole scheme is a farce.

Daylight Robbery....It is fair to pay...but we should be given the choice whether to pay or not...Like all the other paying stations. I find BBC news useful....Everything else is a waste of time...Realty TV.....Yawn!!!!!!!!!

Try living outside UK, then you will see how lucky you were to have BBC.

Its not for BBC, its for owning a TV. Hence the name TV licence.

Yes it is good value. if you consider what you can watch and compare it with what you pay for Sky or the cinema.
