Why do people answer questions as though they are jokes?

pls answer this with some seriousness

-firewomen... i agree but do not think it answers y... more it is y they do not elsewhere do otherwise, but perhaps this way my error for lack of clarity

Some people never take anything seriously. However the temptation is there when there is a question that is questionable. You have to remember that you can't see the face of the questioner, some may assume that the question is a joke. For example, I just answered a question about why did they take Governor Bush out of office. My first response was that it was a joke, but I looked it up and found out that Florida has a law about no one can be governor for more than 8 years.

Sometimes it's just because I want another two points while I'm waiting for my next appointment. Sometimes it's because the question is so ridiculous that it only deserves my sense of humor as a response. Either way, the only time I spend on Yahoo Answers is in between appointments so I can keep my mind fresh while I'm waiting for my next customer/sale to walk in sit down and write me a check.

Because you go on Yahoo answers when you are bored and have nothing better to do not to be serious the entire time in an attempt to make sure your questions, which would be better directed to someone with a bit more authority to answer them, are answered in a fast efficient and correct manner.

1. Some questions just beg for a punch line.

2. It is quicker to flipant for 2 pts. than to spend a lot more time givien a serious answer for the same 2 pts.

3. Some people find it hard to say, "I just don't know."

Because a lot of the questions read as though they are jokes. If you want a serious answer then say so when you ask the question.

There are a lot of people on here who ask such dumb questions, that you just don't know when someone is serious or not. And some questions, just don't seem like they could be serious. I guess people have ruined the question and answer process with the types of questions they ask. You never know when someone is serious or goofing on you.

sometimes it's good to break the ice on a serious problem with a little humor, nothing on the site is fact and if you want serious facts and answers, hire a pro or do some serious googoling

Could be any number of reasons
- they're bored
- they want points but don't know the answers
- they think the question's stupid
- they were being serious but you thought they weren't
- they thought someone would appreciate a good laugh

Some of the questions are soooo bad they are either jokes, provocations or by someone so dumb as to not deserve serious replies.
