Apathy rules! People are too lethargic & disinterested to protest any more. As long as they have got their latest Plasma tvs to watch the mind numbing soaps etc., they are nullified & content to let everything wash over them. Materialism is everything. History nothing.

Corruption in government will always exist, it will never be overturned, as much as we would all like to fight what they're doing to this country.
Not beaten into submission, protests will just take different forms in the future, and so far, nobody has found a way that is likely to make the slightest bit of difference.
Have you ever asked yourself what part of government made you ask this question, is there something in particular you'd want to protest against!!!

The bourgoisie has won. They control governments. They(those who own and control the means of production and the products) divided the masses into self-interested tiny categories. Teacher, nurses, drivers, etc. Control peoples' mind through the media. Control crucial institutions, control the process by which one gets managerial positions in these institutions. Control the police and the army. When one chooses a president, one picks from a list imposed to the picker. Therefore citizens know they have no impact on the actions of their goverment. Why waste time protesting?

good point,
The last conservative govt left britain with the successful fiscal blueprint adopted by all the worlds top economies. the most wealth and best economy since the industrial revolution.
Labour has also enjoyed the benefits of a global economic boom. They have enjoyed the revenue drawn from the housing boom.Brown has ripped off our childrens futures and squandered the money on blairs drive to employ everyone in public sector work to ensure obedient labour voters.
All this money...and they still have left a £30 billion deficit.
So what does all this mean.?
It means that weve all had a good old time and havent been giving too much thought to the damage blair has done.
Blairs interest consist of short term measures designed to endear him to the public for legacys sake.
The larder is empty and were inviting millions of immigrants here that is obviously going to compound the problem in the long term.
I guess the conservatives will fulfill their usual role of sorting out labours mess just in time to get voted out again.
Back to your point. The public will protest when things start to bite....when its too late!
I hope you can suggest some ways of protesting,I cant wait another 4 years to vote out these clowns.Im sure most of the damage done already is irrepairable.

There are still protests ect. Only now they have taken on a new spiral. Why bother marching around when we have the internet. Everybody can see what's happening. Opionions for either side are coming to the forefront. Yes we still protest. However now we have yahoo answers to help.

If you are referring to Americans, there are protests almost daily, but the news media just doesn't cover it, unless someone is hurt or something significant happens.
Read the news about every major city in the US, and you will find protests of one kind or another.
Last night in Phoenix, Arizona was a protest in front of John McCain's offices.
Washington DC has protests every single day.

If you walk around with your eyes so tightly shut tell me, do you have to tie pillows to yourself to stop it hurting when you walk into lamp-posts? Only countries that do not enjoy democracies squash demonstrations and live in self-delusion that this means that they're tyranny is fine. In countries were democracy works there are protests all the time - whether they be mass marches, or groups lobbying their government through petitions, letters, email campaigns and meetings with elected representatives protest, lobby and democracy interact on a daily basis. I'm sorry your eyes seem glued shut and you haven't noticed it....perhaps you should get to the doctor about that one mate!

People do...on the internet. The best thing ever happened to politicians was the internet; keep demonstrations off the street; keep the unhappy masses at home on the computer instead of in the street.

I protest about liberalism and the Democratic party loudly on the internet and in editorial columns, but the foolish American people did not listen.
