I don't know if this was good or bad. But if Nixon was pardon (The Leader) why wasn't E. Howard Hunt, G. Gordin Liddy, John n. Mitchell and others did prison time and not given the same consederation at the time. Doesn't seem fair to me......

It's not a question of fairness, but of what was good for the country at the time. I believe President Ford was absolutely right to have pardoned Nixon - the country needed to get past the whole mess, and get on with the business of being a country again!

Nobody's declaring Ford a hero for pardoning Nixon. Nixon resigned in disgrace before he could be impeached. What you're hearing about Ford is what they say about all dead Presidents. No one is going to stand up at his funeral and say anything negative.

Yes, nor does your spelling seem fair to me. Not all are calling him a hero, but he did get the country past a potentially disruptive time. To be completely frank, he got NIXON past a difficult time.

Some people described him as a mediocre, non-elected fill in, which surprised me at such a time, but it was the truth.

here is an advice for you. in life i.e. real life we do not have to understand everything by simple "pure logic" it simply does not work that way, sometimes suggestions, emotions, influence, power, past and present circumstances play a more important role and then decisions are made. again not by logic but let us call them by intuition. president ford took a chance --a calculated risk both for the nation and for his presidential position. and luckily it did work. look at the current history specially after ford. the nation healed and Watergate was forgotten to a large extent and the nation moved forward. i call that a heroic achievement and the man whose decision bearded |a hero" . i rest my case and so should you -- this time by logic.

Not fair, but the news took and run with it and the released interview with Woodward. no honesty is found anywhere, they need to go to telling fairy tales, to gain back credibility.

When someone dies, we try to say nice things about them. It makes their family feel better. I have not ever been to a funeral where they kicked the person in the box.

He was a President and that is why he is declared a hero.
