Currenty I'm on a search for HDB flat to purchase. I kept on seeing 4I or 4A or 4NG etc etc. I understood that the number stands for the rooms but what about the letters I, S, A, NG etc etc? What are the differences?

S=Simplified, I=Improved, A=Biggest, NG=New Generation. The biggest type is the "A" model that is 4A and the smallest type is the "S" model that is 4S either small or simplified. Whereas the "I" and the "NG' are those older model. Different among those "S', "I", "A" and "NG" of about the most 10 to 40 sqm. For your info.
