In normal course he would have been out of the team in the 3rd Test. However, team management decided to retain him in the team due to following reasons:
1) Since the trace may help the spinners, team management
wanted to have an extra spinner. However, if they select
Harbajan Singh, they have to either drop one pace bowler
or a Batsman. Since Sehwag is capable of bowling and
taking wicket, they want to use him as a spinner as well as
a batsman.
2) Since the track is cosidered batsman friendly, it will give
a chance to Sehwag to regain his touch and if he regains
his form, they can get some quick runs from him.

It is ridiculous to be so negative about a player when we know that even the best of the best go though rough times in their careers. We have a Hugh problem with the opening pair and Sehwag has proved that when he is in form he practically destroys the opposite team's attack paving a way for the middle order batsmen to finish the job. India has invested a lot of time and energy to build this team and they haven't given up on this star batsman as yet.

His past is certainly appealing to the selectors. Would you really drop a man who scored 300 in a test match that easily? They're assuming that Sehwag won't stay bad forever and that he'll be able to produce runs again. They don't want to drop him and never bring him back. They know that he didn't used to me an opener, but a middle order batsman. Selectors believe that Sehwag will be a more productive batsman at the middle order. Only time will tell if he really will be.

Just hoping him to regain his form. Did you listen to Smith's words after the 4th days play. He was still happy to get Sehwag out even though he was out of form as they all know how dangerous player he can be. Just persisting with him a little longer than with others as he is a proven performer. Greg's policy is " It is better to give a match more than a match less". That is the reason why Wasim Jaffer was played when pressure was on to sack him.

i think that it is time to give sehwag a rest n let him play county or first class. But the media has no right to exagerate the point. we should not forget how many times sehwag had won matches for us. we should have faith in him. Dont u guys remember Multan.

Well now they have opted for Dinesh Kartik and Wasim Jaffer as openers. Quite a good decision actually. Atleast they made some runs.

His past records showing that if he regain his form he can give lots lots of confident to other batsmen by hitting the opening spells and we don't have hitting opener like him and this is not the time to experiment, (Ofcourse, Dhoni can be a replacement) So they're trying to keep him and motivating him to do better and better,.

He scored once every 10 innings (just a guess) but when he does he is devastating.
