joyce m thanks for asking this question, when Isee atrocities like in Illinois where 47 men were given the death sentence I begin to question the so called legal system, when after the gov, investigated they proved 35 of these men were not guilty???
or the Rampart fiasco in Los Angles Calif, where thousands were serving time and after a F,B,I, investigation they proved the cops had committed the crimes and laid it on others, Calif has thousands of cases to retry except the one where the men have been executed , the F,B,I, PROVED THE COPS LIED AND PLANTED FALSE EVIDENCE ON THOSE IN Illinois, AND THE PROSECUTOR KNEW THIS AND EVEN LIED HIMSELF, HE IS NOW attorney general FOR THE STATE, AND NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST ANY COPS????

Have to agree with the other posters, annoying, but, problematically realistic. The "Jack McCoy" character plays with peoples lives to his benefit of "making the collar" for the "collar's sake, only sometimes because it is convenient and beneficial for him to do so to advance his career. Sad, but true.
Lawyers and cops think that they are above the Law and make the Law, until they are proven otherwise, sadly, until they are in a Court of Law.

I sure am, in addition to which I find the character to be self-righteous, uncaring about the results of his manipulations etc., and almost always ANGRY!
It doesn't mean anything when a character becomes outraged over something if his normal state IS outrage. Plus, didn't they say he slept with one of the women who were working under him????? Maybe someone should be as harsh and judgemental with HIM as he is with everyone else!

Yes it may be annoying, but it is realistic, there really are people out there who want the case to be closed, so the one who looks guilty is guilty to them and they'll be damned if told otherwise.
That is the sad truth with the law system

T.V. characters are not meant to be role models for the profession depicted. "Entertainment" is not the same as "education." For example, CSI is very entertaining, but is in some ways science fiction. And morality, as depicted on television, is frequently not very moral.

Anybody who can go from crime to conviction in 48 minutes can do pretty much anything he wants.
