basically, it can be done with auto or stick, front wheel drive or rear. its more of a question of power versus traction than anything else. but frankly why would you want to do a doughnut when driving? i always did mine in an empty parking lot after the first snowfall,so i can get reacquianted with my vehicle's winter capabilities, and to practice breaking a slide or spin. but essentailly you turn the wheel, and gas it.

If you are using an auto I suggest you put it in first gear, so it stays in that gear.
The basic principle is to put it on full lock and floor the throttle, you get the best effect I think with RWD, but I have managed it in FWD with a little help from the handbrake on a loosish surface, however, that does not give off the spectacular tyre smoke.

Good luck and Good donuting, Drifting is great too, you should give that a try sometime.....

You need a rear wheel drive car...... put the steering on full lock and dump the clutch with high revs and the back wheels wills spin and make you 'donut' !

It is really stupid to do that to your tires. If you step on the brake with your left foot and accelerate with your right, turn the steering wheel left or right, it should get you what you want. Of course you might also burn your tires off and end up on the rims...but at least you looked "cool" for a few minutes
