I am planning a trip to Las vegas, and i intend to travel to Los Angeles and San Diego by car. I will travel with my wife and a 1.5 years old daughter. Is it a safe trip ? are there places to stop and rest ? any advice ?

In addition to what "Kimberly" and "Kitkat" have said please consider this. Much of I-15 in California is "under construction". Traffic fines in construction zones are doubled in California, and a speeding ticket can cost you well over $1,000.00, so make sure you keep an eye out for those "construction zone" signs.

Las Vegas is only about a 3-4 hour drive from Los Angeles. The drive is no big deal, except for the TRAFFIC. Don't worry about places to stop and rest, there are plenty. Just prepare yourself for awful L.A. traffic.

It is perfectly safe. Lots of pretty desert to look at. There are plenty of rest stops along the way. May want to take plenty of things for the little one to do though. She may get bored. Take snacks and drinks and have fun.....

Sure lots of people do it. There is a lot until Barstow and then there is a lot of blank space. There can be 45 mins. between stops.
