my question could sound stupid, but i'm not american, that's why i don't know what does slim shady means, is it somebody's name? or what exactly? i hear eminem always saying it on the most of his songs...
pls explain, i'm curious to know!!

Hey- I am from Detroit, MI where Eminem is from...
Basically Slim Shady is his "alter ego". Eminem is also a member of the group D12 ( Dirty Dozen) and there are six members ( well five, since one member is deceased)
and each member has another "personality", which makes a total of 12 members. Below is their names with their "alter ego" names:
Eminem (Marshall Mathers) aka Slim Shady
Swift (Ondre Moore) aka Swifty McVay
Kon Artis (Denaun Porter) aka Mr. Porter
Kuniva (Von Carlisle) aka Rondell Beene
Bizarre (Rufus Johnson) aka Peter S. Bizarre
Deceased members
Proof (DeShaun Holton) aka Derty Harry; shot and killed on April 11, 2006.
Edit: I did not say anywhere in my post that because I was from Detroit that this was the reason why I knew the answer... I stated that I was from Detroit, MI- only because this is a Malaysian board and the person asking the question was not from America... period
Secondly there were 6 members of the group to make the DIRTY DOZEN...now in terms of actual records Eminem is a featured artist..but when they were formed by Proof in DETROIT - the group was: Detroit MCs Bizarre, Eminem, Eye Kyu, Killa Hawk and Fuzz. So from a business standpoint- yes he is a solo artist but his roots stem from his being a member of the group D12. Therefore I still stand by my comment

Slim Shady is eminem's rapper alter ego (as opposed to eminem, which is just... well, apparently he has two)

come to think of it, eminem is his pseudonym and slim shady is his alter ego when he feels like doing some proper rapping (he just keeps it at eminem when he goes all emo on us)

Its one of the nicknames of Eminem, a rapper. "Rap" meaning jibberish that has no order or meaning...its just words put into phrases, but not sentences. Its stupid crap that makes people, like "Slim Shady" a lot more money than most doctors.

Edit: I'm utterly ashamed ... to see the person down there who claims to know more about Eminem because they share a hometown get blatant facts wrong. Eminem has never been and is not now a 'member' of D12. He started them out, he produces them, he is not a member of their group. Where on earth did you come to that interesting conclusion? He featured in some of their songs to get them popular, simple as that.
Psst .... that's why those songs say D12 FEATURING Eminem ... if he was in the group, it wouldn't feature him, now would it?
