This question is difficult to answer at this time. The Iranian government claim that it is developing its nuclear technology for peaceful civilian use. If Iran is indeed sincere in its intentions, then why not?. Any nation has the right to harness nuclear energy to power its industries, rather than to be totally dependent on fossil fuel. However, considering the behavior of the Iranian President Ahmadinejad, many nations raise doubt about Iran's nuclear intentions. The answer will only become apparent when a new Iranian president comes to power, in the hope that he'll have a fair and reasonable point of view that is not hostile to western interests. Only then will the Iranian nuclear intentions becomes more clearer.

So far, according to the experts, all Iran has is the ability to produce nuclear energy, and not weapons. That being said, can you imagine a country sitting on all that oil developing a cheap alternative for energy consumption. If they develop weapons from the program, it is a different story but for now because of US and Israel led sanctions, they are unable to sell their oil. Kind of sounds like they are doing all they can under the circumstances. The leader is no more of a nutcase than some others in the region(not that I agree with them either) and if your neighbour had the capability to nuke you, wouldn't you want the ability to strike back? Not saying it is right, nor am I saying we should believe the intentions are for energy and not weapons. We all know anyone can find the technology to build nukes, we all know how dangerous nukes are but until everyone gets rid of them, those that have them don't want others to get them and those that don't have them, want them. Kinda like keeping up with the "Jones's".

Iran is a terrorist state that has proclaimed that it wishes to destroy Israel. Nuclear weapons would give them the opportunity to do so, heaven forfend.

If Israel does indeed have a nuclear capability, it will use it only as a last resort, after a first strike by some other power.

Iran is the biggest threat to the West today, and their military capability must be curbed by the West.

In addition, individual terrorists must be eliminated--if necessary by engaging them and killing them.

There can be no rational argument against this two-pronged approach.

Iran,as a country that signed the NNPT has every right to nuclear technology,as long as it is used in civilian purposes...and until now there is no prove that they don't respect that...And more there is no prove that Iran is building a nuclear weapon and if they are building one, there is no prove that they are going to use it...

Let them continue on. Keep the boycott on as long as they continue to keep out the IA-EA. If they develop a nuke, isolate them just like N. Korea, if they sell or "accidentally" lose a nuke, turn the country into a glass parking lot.
