If the doctor says so, then yes, but antibiotics are not good things to be taking all the time. One of the main problems is that they wipe out all the good bacteria in the gut as well as the bad. Having a good balance of gut flora is especially important during pregnancy. So get her an antibiotic support probiotic supplement to replienish the good bacteria.

Do NOT take Cipro. That is NOT an antibiotic that should be available to a pregnant woman.
If she's allergic to penicillin, see about Clindamycin. That has been proven safe and effective to take during pregnancy (clindamycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, too, just as Ciproflaxin is).
Once again, though, do NOT take Cipro.

Antibiotics in general are NOT safe in pregnancy, but as with everything else, there is an exception to every medication there is out there. I hope your fiancee did not fail to mention that she is pregnant!! Very important. Open the packaging and read the instructions leaflet, it will mention if it is safe to take during pregnancy, then ring the doctor if unsure. The Dr wouldn't prescribe unsafe medication, providing she mentioned her 'condition'.

Certainly NOT! For any medicine (including antibiotics) consult a doctor and follow the prescription only. Many antibiotics are very much harmful not only for the baby but for the mother also. If you take antibiotics which is prescribed by the doctor even, for any unusual symptom, consult the doctor immediately.

Did she tell the doctor she is pregnant? The best advice is to double check with the doctor..
But sometimes with medication there is a leaflet inside the box, this will give you a better idea

Your finance's doctor (OB/GYN) would be the only one knowledgeable enough to answer this question. Prescription drugs and even OTC drugs, are most dangerous in the first trimester; however, some are harmful throughout the pregnancy.

If the doctor prescribed it and knows that your fiancee is pregnant, then it is okay. The doctor would not have prescribed it if it wasn't.
