I'm sure you mean professionally.
Get yourself an agent, headshots, but most importantly, GET YOURSELF AUDITIONS!!!
most agents don't do much for you, so get yourself on stage in any community theatre you can find.
Get to Hollywood, when I was just modeling, I was picked from my pics to dance in NSYNC and Dr Dre videos. Deoending on your style, you might want to look into hip-hop because that's where the money's at.

If you dance at a studio, and you feel like nobody is noticing your dancing than maybe work on how you present yourself when you dance. I have been dancing for 13 years, and I used to not present myself when I danced. Especially when you are out on stage, the only solution I could give you is dance like nobody is watching you! GOOD LUCK! :)

If you do it naked in a crowded park, that would get you noticed! (I don't recommend it, though.)
Seriously ... dance in as many places as you can -- parties, weddings, etc. Maybe someone who can help you do it for a living will notice you.

easy,. . . . try dancing before the mirror! ....jus kidin'
you may want to send your pics to magazines explaining your best moves and twists including somersaults if you do that too. Just explain in brief, your pictures will do the rest.

I am a profeesional dancer in Los Angeles signed with the top agency out here. Your question is a little broad, so I am going to give you information on getting noticed in LA. This will work for many other places too but that is where my experience lies. My advice is to:
1- Develop a marketable look for yourself. Talent isn't always everything, a good look will get you into the right auditions and your talent will get you the job. Look through magazines and think of ways to make yourself stand out from the rest of the people that look like you in a positive way. Don't do anything drastic that will make you hard to hire because you look so different.
2- Learn your craft. You need to know how to perform well, pick up choreography, take correction, adjust to style and have an eye for detail. Learn how to make choreography look good on you and what your strenghts and weaknesses are. And perhaps most importantly, learn how to tell a story. Dance is not all about movement. If you know how to tell a genuine story through your body, you will be noticed for your ability even if they are not as good as the dancer next to you.
3-Learn about how to be the best performer on stage and how to perform well on film. Learn about everyones job for whatever venue you want to perform in.
4- When you are ready with all the above, get professional headshots done from someone reputable. If you get an agent, they may ask you to get different or more headshots done. And if you go in and meet with the agents, ask questions about what they think about your look. Only sign with an agent if they see you in a way you would like to be seen.
5- Sign with an agency. This is very important as most auditions in LA are closed. If you have a lot of friends in the industry and you are not called for an audition or you do not have representation, you can 'crash' an audition by showing up anyways, most of the time you can get in and still audition, but having an agent is key to having a sucessfull career, but geting started, you may have to do the work yourself.
someone above said agencies don't do much for you. She is clearly with the wrong agency for her. Agents are the key to getting you work and are completely worth the 10% they take from your paycheck, without an agent, it is much much much more difficult to be sucessful as a dancer.
6- Audition, Audition, Audition! Auditioning is a learning experience just like class. don't expect to be perfect when you start auditioning, but keep your eyes open and watch for people who you think are good and catch your eye, because chances are they are catching someone elses too. See who gets kept, and who gets cut and why. Learn from others.
7- Be proffessional when on the job. Word of mouth works wonders in this industry, if you work with people and they like you and you are happy to be there and easy to work with. They will want to hire you again. Talented people with bad attitudes will work, but only until people get fed up with them. Easy to work with people with less talent will have much longer and more lucrative careers.
8- Network to get your name out there. Don't do anything immoral or compromising to get jobs. But be involved in the community and get your name out there in a positive way!
9- Stay in class! find a class that challenges you and works for you, find out who the working dancers take from and get your butt in there. If you want to be a professional, stay on top of your game by staying in classes.
I hope this has helped you somewhat. This is my experience as a working dancer and watching dancers for years. I am in Los angels and the information above is geared towards that but it is in general, universally true for any dance industry.
