If you are producing now, you will continue to produce as long as you breast feed. I breast feed until 15 months. I did take my prenatal vitamins the whole time I nursed my daughter and sons. Breast milk is the healthiest thing you can give your child and I would like many other professionals recommend it until at least 1 year. If you are going back to work, then pump. If you are concerned that you are not producing enough ask your physician or contact the local LaLeache league, they will be able to assist you.

The following items will continue your supply of milk:
o Breast feed or pump every three hours
o Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day
o Take in at least 1500 calories per day.
o Be sure to take in the proper nutrients (protein, calcium, Vitamin C, etc.) A good way to do this is to continue to take your pre-natal vitamins.
If you follow the three guidelines you will keep a milk supply until you decide to stop. It is true that you can keep you milk supply for many years. Good luck to you and your little one!

As you breastfed your first 2 children, you probably already know that breastfeeding is a matter of supply and demand, the more the baby nurses or you pump the more your body will produce. Just be sure to drink PLENTY of water and make sure you get enough calories. Viatmins sure won't hurt, just don't take too much or use as a replacement for real food.

If you are about to or have already started weaning your child and u feel you are not quite producing enough milk to go along you can always try expressing milk so that your body knows to make more, or another good idea would be to speak to your health visitor or GP and see what they suggest as there are certain things that should be avoided while breat-feeding

I thought you kept on producing for as long as you wanted - what about all these programmes about women who breast feed 5 year olds?

each and every cellular has DNA and it somewhat is consisted of two strands tightly woven around one yet another. the difficulty that forestalls the two strands from breaking aside is mentioned as a telomeric cap (it somewhat is random nucleotide sequences mentioned as nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid mentioned as proline . A nonsense codon is one that doesnt code for any amino acid manufacturing) each and every time your cells divide a small sequence is lost there via lowering the soundness of the cellular's DNA (in layman's words). this could ultimately lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA becoming to be volatile. and oftentimes while a mistake occurs in DNA the cellular will carry out automobile cytolysis (cellular suicide) to stay away from issues. So once you're previous maximum of ur cells telomeric caps would be low and that they are carriers to die while they conflict to divide.. Whats extremely thrilling approximately this concept is the effect it has on evolution (as a results of fact this occurs on the two meiotic besides as mitotic divisions. which potential a species grows previous too in the previous it mutates.. yet thats a different tale)

it may be that it jsut seems like you're making less/he's getting less, if he is going through a growth spurt he will seem hungry all the time, he will act like he's not getting enough. increase you're water intake, a multivit probably wouldnt hurt but really won't help milk production, eat oatmeal, a couple times a day, this helps to increase milk for some women. and pumping, in between feeds will help to increase it some.
good luck

as long as you eat and drink right and dont get too stressed. your milk will continue producing as long as you use it. dont take any medication or vitamins without consulting your doc as anything you take will pass to your baby through your breast milk. good luck!

Dont worry, it will keep producing itself. Thats the course of nature. Incase, if you feel weak, you can have multi vitamins but only by ur doctors prescription.
