I worked in a wild pressure zone for 10 years - three telephones, two computers, panic deadlines, huge money deals. It was going to kill me so I walked. I dealt with things by being stupid. I took a rugby ball in and threw it around the office at the team. We played buzzword bingo. set the fire alarm off. phoned the singapore office and pretended we spoke no english. Be inventive if you have to stay the course for your lad.
practical jokes are the business and will see you through another day

No, I won't make you feel better the way you want me to. I did not hate the job; I hated the boss. But I stuck around for several years because of family obligations. When the time was right I quit.
You have a choice. Either you stick it out, or look for a new job. I'm sure you'll one near the nursery, or you'll find another nursery near your new place of work. You don't have to torture yourself the way you do, and then crave for sympathy. You won't get it. At least not from me.
So get off that butt of yours, and move.
