I got a job at a school teaching something. All the teachers were tasked with taking the students on trips. I was informed that I would be driving the bus for this trip. I explained that I didn’t have the experience of driving a bus, but was told that I had to anyway. I even put it in writing, and got a letter back saying that if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have a job. For some reason, I couldn’t get another job, so I had to do the bus driving. So we went off down the road on a rainy day. The wipers were going back and forth, the students were normal, yelling and screaming, singing songs, chanting chants and generally having loads of fun. Driving was bad, but I was coping. The bus had this tendency to fight against me every minute. I had to press the brakes hard, and put the hand brake on, when the gear shift was in neutral, or else the bus would slowly move forwards or backwards, depending on what gear I had previously had the gearshift in....

We reached a service station after a long while, where we would be having our lunches and generally resting. I parked the Bus in the only place it could be parked, in these yellow lines set aside for School busses. I let the children off, and then spent some time trying to get the bus in the right place, with one of the other teachers helping me by sitting in the back seat and shouting instructions as I backed up. Several times, when I tried to go forwards, the bus would continue to go backwards and when I tried to go backwards the bus would continue to go forwards. I almost hit a large red vehicle, but finally managed to get the thing where we were told it needed to be. I set the brakes, turned the wheel to put the bus into a wall if it started rolling off, which was odd as it was on a flat surface.

We made sure all the doors and windows were shut tight and locked, got off the bus, locked it up, and went dashing off to where the others were having their lunches, our coats held above our heads to keep the rain off. It was pouring with rain.

I ate a quick lunch, did the necessities and went back to the bus through torrential rain. It was like buckets were being poured onto me. When I reached it, there was a little old man shouting at me that I had to move the bus as it was in the way of traffic. It hadn’t been when I left it next to a wall in the middle of a car park, but now it seemed it was partially obstructing a road.
I got in the bus and every window, was wholly or partially open. Rain was pouring into the bus. I had to go through the bus shutting windows tight, everything was soaked. I was wading through water that went up to my waist. Even though I left the doors of the bus open, the water seemed to come in faster than it went out the door.

I finally got every window shut and latched and all the water out. I started up the bus, and with the little old man, tried to get the bus back to where it should have been. One minute, it seemed like I had the children back in the bus, at other times, I was alone in the bus. The old man shouted orders and suggestions, and the bus fought me every step of the way, back and forth it went, I’d try to move it back and it would go forward and visa versa. Suddenly, I’m along side the wall… and the left back wheel goes up over this bump that hadn’t been there earlier. In dream I know what happened, even as I didn’t know. The wall had collapsed, and a large boulder moved under the wheel, tipping the bus up. The bus rolled to the right, up and over, and I was hanging from the seat belt in the driver’s seat. Again one second the bus was full of screaming people, the next it was empty and I was in silence except for the creaking and cracking of the bus’s walls and roof.

Then the bus collapsed around me, falling and disintegrating in the rain, until I was left lying there on my back, in the rain… People came running up, shouting that there had to be an inquiry and asking how many were dead. I looked around, and there was no one but me where the bus was… and I woke up.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

Zomeone else has emailed me the following on my dream.

http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/b3.htm

To dream that you are a bus driver, suggests that you are moving forward quickly. You need to show more patience and less force. In particular, if you are a school bus driver, then it signifies that through knowledge and learning you will advance rapidly in life. Your dream may be connected with a new learning situation.

To dream that you are in a bus accident, signifies that you will find yourself in an embarrassing situation. Your finances will be effected in an adverse way causing your much frustration.

It's all very interesting.

I forgot to mention that the dream was very vivid. Colours, Sounds, the feel of the rain and water, seemed all very real.

There are several different interpretations of dreams you can research. I have researched a few and complied this response for you. Aspects of my interpretation could and most probably will be wrong, however I hope other aspects will be right. I must point out that these interpretations are contradictory and I suggest you take whichever interpretation seems to fit in with your life at the moment as the one which applies to you. Also dreams are very personal, so maybe in your subconcious you already know the answer to what your dream means. Another point to make is that if you have actually been through a part of your dream before in real life, it is possible that you are just reliving the moment. This happens alot to people who have been through bad experiences.

To dream of being a teacher supposedly foretells a striving for literary attainments, but the bare necessities of life will be your first priority. This supports the interpretation you have already come across of being a school bus driver, which states that it signifies that through knowledge and learning you will advance rapidly in life. However another interpretation of the bus driver aspect is that it implies removal or business change. Maybe you are moving home or having a career change.

Travelling signifies profit or disappointment. A smooth journey means profit whereas a journey which encounters disagreeable events signifies disappointment. As disagreeable events take an active part in your journey the negative meaning of travelling seems more appropriate to your dream. Or it could represent the path towards your goals.

There are many interpretations I have come across regarding the letter you received in your dream. I only found one interpretation regarding the writing of a letter. To write a letter foretells jealously of a rival, or that you will hastily condemn another on suspicion alone and will regret it later. To receive a letter bearing unpleasant news denotes difficulties or illness. Or signifies a new
opportunity or challenge, or is a message from your unconscious mind giving you some guidance in a current situation. Another one is that the letter may be a pun on ‘let her’.

You say it was a ‘rainy day’. One interpretation is that a clear shower of rain shows pleasure will be enjoyed and prosperity will come to you, but if the rain clouds are murky you will feel alarmed over the graveness of your undertakings. However rain also symbolizes fertility and renewal, or forgiveness and grace. To see rain through a window may symbolize fortune and love, and/or indicates spiritual ideas and insights which are being brought to your awareness.

To hear children laughing and having fun denotes joy and happiness for yourself. To see children in your dream could also signify your own childlike qualities. Or you may be longing for the past and another chance to fulfill repressed desires/ideas/hopes/etc.

Having difficulties in driving the bus signifies temporary embarrassment (one interpretation specifies that the embarressment is purely in business) and/or the threat of ill health. You could also see the difficulties as obstacles. In this case the 'obstacles' you experienced represent things in your life that you need to overcome. For instance you may have some self doubt or trouble making a decision.

Avoiding the crash with the red vehicle could possibly be a pun of the word avoid, 'a void' in your life which you have been unable to fill.

The wall symbolizes limitations, obstacles and boundaries, and closing the windows signifies shutting out outside influences.

The little old man in your dream denotes that unhappy carers will oppress you unless they are serene.

A road or street symbolizes your life's path, so as the bus is partially obstructing a road in part of your dream, we could say there is something 'partially obstructing' you on your life's path.

To see something which is open (the windows on the bus) signifies a new influence or new-found inspiration entering your life, as you close them you are shutting out these influences.

Wading through clear water means that you will partake in exquiste joys, it shows luck in all you are undertaking. But if the water is muddy, you are in danger of sorrowful experiences or illness, or bad luck. To bail out water foretells that you will overcome trouble, sickness and misery. Also you will not succumb to dangerous influences as you eventually see the water subside. Being wet denotes a possible pleasure which may involve you in loss and disease. This is a warning to avoid the blandishments of seemingly well-meaning people.

The 'one minute crowded bus, next minute all alone' is a hard one to find out about. When you dream that you are alone indicates feelings of rejection.

I'm not sure if the collasped wall in your dream could be seen as a wall which has crumbled, in which case would suggest that you have easily overcome your problems and risen above your barriers.

The bus being flipped over is part of an accident, and to dream you are in an accident signifies pent up guilt which you are sub-conciously punishing yourself for. Also accidents have been interpretated as a warning from your subconcious telling you to steer clear of whatever was involved in the dream accident. So don't go driving any buses for a while! Also bus accidents are supposed to protray a period of frustation due to financial embarrassment.

This part is a repitition of 'one minute a crowd, next all alone' which is covered above.

Silence can mean that you feel inhibited in voicing your opinion and how you really feel. The creaking and cracking of the bus could signify the unexpected or unknown, although it could also represent a breakthrough in personal struggles.

When the bus collaspses around you, you are again seeing part of an accident, another repitition in your dream, which I have covered above.

You dreamt that people were saying there had to be an inquiry. If you had dreamt of the actual inquiry it would have meant that you would be unfortunate in your friendships. I don't know if this is approiprate to your dream or not.

The people asking 'how many dead?' after the accident even though you are all alone, is your subconcious asking yourself how many of your personal dreams/desires/plans/hopes/etc. have been unfulfilled, lost and/or (excuse the pun) buried?

Again you are all alone, suggesting the feeling of rejection.

So in conclusion you are or were striving for your own personal goals in a path of obstacles, some of which you have overcome, some of which you haven't. You have abandoned many of the personal goals you wished to fulfill. Also you feel as though you cannot voice your opinions for whatever reason and are feeling rejected. Something is going to embarrass you, whether it be financial or not, as it could be the thing your going to say/do which you will regret later. But you will overcome your embarrassment and/or obstacles. And most important of all DO NOT DRIVE A BUS!!!!!

I think you are going through a shift in your life and it is affecting you so you dreamt being a teacher.

The fact that you were entrusted with a group of kids indicate that you are worried about a certain task that you might have to be responsible about.

When you were forced to drive, it shows that the task you were given to take responsibility for, was something you were forced to accept and had no choice but agree to it.

You messing up the whole task shows the lack of trust you have in you performing the task you have successfully. This you can translate as a low self esteem/confidence over yourself.

Hope this helps!
