I'm an American and I happen to agree with you 100%.

I used to think that it was normal and right for my country to go over to other countries and play the part of the liberating hero. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed wrong. Freedom means nothing unless people fight for it themselves. To go into another country, uninvited, and "free" the people from a tyrant is to merely replace one tyrant with another. The people gain nothing in the long run.

I used to think I was better because I was an American, but then I started talking with people from other countries (gotta love the internet) and found that they're not inferior or superior to me. In fact, they're just like me -- people. I found out that there is no universal "best country" in the world. Don't get me wrong -- I love my country and wouldn't want to live anywhere else because this is my home. But that doesn't mean it's the best. I look at my country the same way I look at my house. I will readily admit that my house is not the prettiest nor the most expensive house in my town. Even still, I wouldn't trade it for a 50 room mansion! I grew up in this house; I love it. Same goes for the USA.

I don't know why the US has to get involved in everything. I wish it wouldn't. I think everyone would be a lot happier if we (the US) just butted out of everything and offered assistance only when asked. I think all the US politicians need to go back to kindergarden and learn the basic fundamentals of politeness.

btw, no, I don't believe this country is blessed by god. No more than any other country. To believe that a divine force plays favorites to nations that rise and fall within a blink of its eye is the height of arrogance. This country would be better off if our leaders got off their high horses and stopped with the blessed by god stuff. It's a very divisive philosophy to take and it's hurting the American people more than anything else. Not to mention, it's making us look like a bunch of slack-jawed idiots to the rest of the world.

There is a part of the U.S. population who feels that God has favored the United States. At its best, it can be a positive - people with a positive attitude who are grateful to live with in a free country, with a sense of responsibility for the welfare of its citizens, and the rest of the of the world. At it's worst, it's a belief that the God has favored the United States to the exclusion of the rest of the world and the rest of the world had better shape up and fly right because we're number one, and don't you forget it. The later opinion is born of ignorance of the rest of the world. Unfortunately, our present administration is more geared toward the latter opinion.

Not in the sense that God has singled us out...but I think that a lot of Americans are more aware of many the blessings that God has given us...freedom to worship, an ample supply of food and material goods, etc.

Generally, most Americans appreciate these blessings and are aware that many other people don't have some of the things we enjoy. Also, it's our history to remember what it is like to be unable to enjoy these blessings...therefore most of us feel its our duty to share and help others gain what we have.

The overall impression of most Americans is that material satisfaction and our form of government are the result of those blessings and not something that man or government has "given" us.

Certainly most people around the world, I believe, are capable of identifying God's blessings, but it's a strong tradition in American history and culture to acknowledge them.

The United States believes that it's everybody's business to guarantee human rights throughout the world, regardless of where some arbitrarily drawn political borders might be.

It all returns to who God IS. With the many beliefs out there, who is to know? God made Himself and His will provable with the many prophecies in the Bible that have been fulfilled and cannot be realistically explained away, though so many try. So this God, the One, True, living God of Israel actually does have geographical (and political) preferences, such is the case with Israel. Though they have been cast out and rejected until the time of the gentiles is fulfilled, they are now in their homeland and you are about to witness Gods' blessings on them like never before. The time of the gentiles is all but fulfilled today. Also, God blesses those that love and serve Him and bless His people, Israel. Just look at what America used to be and what it is now. We have turned our backs on God, removed Him from everything nearly, and the last death knell will be if we foolishly turn our backs on Israel. Read the Bible and see how geographical and political God is. If you don't believe in the God of the Bible, who do you believe in? and what PROOF do they offer of their god? You have to have some measure of faith to believe in any god, no doubt about it. No other 'book' compares with Gods' Holy Bible. It proves itself. Why should God bless America anymore? Look at what her people have done with His blessings. Turned their backs on Him, turned gay, kicked Him out of their thoughts and everything else, etc. Sleeping Americans like saying that phrase because in their dreams their country serves the Lord and is due for some blessings. Time to wake up. We've been blessed and we've abused it. Period.

Yes America is blessed by God. America does not think they are better than anyone else and yes we are a powerful country but our fore fathers have fought hard so we can live the way we do! As far as America getting involved in foreign affairs if we do the other countries complain and if we don't the other countries complain! So we are wrong if we do and we are wrong if we don't! God Bless America!

America has it's "lunatic fringe" just like any other country. Unfortuanely, the fringe has run the government for the past 6 years. The american version of the Taliban is just as disgusting as the other Taliban. Religious extremism on all sides is nothing but bad news for the rest of us. I agree with you but have you noticed how people start screaming ..where's america when we don't do anything. Example, Sudan for one, the whole Bosnia thing way back when for another. We just can't win no matter what we do.

LOL!! Obviously NONAME has a personal agenda going here...

Absolutely do I agree with you...and I live in america, have since I was born. I don't call my self an American because I firmly believe that a person should not be considered a citizen of nay country just becasue of an accident of birth that they had no control over.

IF a countries government says, "Hey come over and help us." then absolutely go and help them, but otherwise let them be and solve their won problems wiout interferance.

Besides freedom as it exists in the US is NOT what it is cracked up to be...

I believe that we are very blessed by God. But if we don't watch out, that blessing can be taken away.
