For chinese Oriental gifts, u can try Chinatown. U can take an MRT train to Chinatown station.
Little India is also a very well-known & popular site with Mustafa Shopping Centre the main attraction. At Mustafa, U can get all kinds of things from A to Z.
U can also get good deals at Bugis Village (Bugis Street) opposite Parco Bugis.
Other shopping areas will be :
1) Suntec City, Marina Square, Raffles City, Chinatown Point, China Square, Far East Square, Shaw Tower (all located at City Area)
2) IMM, Jurong Point, Jurong East Entertainment Centre, Boon Lay Shopping Centre (all located at West Singapore)
3) Tampines Mall, Whitesands, Century Square, Bedok Central, East Point, Tanjong Katong Shopping Centre, Joo Chiat Complex (all located at East Singapore)
4) Causeway Point, North Point, Woodlands Centre, Thomson Plaza (all located at North Singapore)
Of 90% of all the places mentioned above, u can take MRT train to the designated locations, alternatively, u can take bus or even taxis charged by meter.
My advice to you is to state what are the gifts that u intend to purchase so that we can provide a better detailed help/guide.
Good Luck to you & hope that you can find the gifts that u want!

I have just returned from Singapore and found prices similar to Australia and at least I can return things in Australia if need be but if you buy on holiday then to hard to return items once you have left. The shopping is very good and some lovely clothes the markets are ok but you get what you pay for. The food in Singapore is great. The ride on a boat along the river at night is amazing and a trip to Sentosa island is a must. I was to busy relaxing and sight seeing to shop to much

if you're looking for cheap, bugis street is where you should go. take the mrt and stop at bugis mrt station. you can get loads of clothes there for cheap. trust me on this one.
for souvenirs, you can get them practically everywhere. try chinatown anyway. honestly though, singapore souvenirs stink. do you really want a metal model of a lion mermaid?
