If I don't call or email will I get over the break-up a lot quicker.
This break-up is my choice, but I am really torn because I've known the person for more years than I want to talk about.
(more than half my adult life)
It was his idea that we try it again after a long period apart.
Now I am not sure why he even wanted to (maybe ego)?

Honestly, the best way to cope is to get more involved with friends and doing activities to take your mind of him. Get rid of the pictures as they would bring back memories. Don't accept "just because" phone calls or emails. It seems harsh, but this will get the job done. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry I'm not among those 'Agony Aunt' columnist, But seems your circumstances isn't very vivid,

I hope you both are adults and this decision of breaking up has been agreed by both of you, Now, if you keep some kind of contact , you will keep revisiting the memories, times spend together etc. However, in such situations, try to meet a lot of new people , join clubs , different activities, You've to believe that there's plenty more fish in the Sea, and you've to give that room and space to yourself to catch those fish or let those fish to come to you.
Trust me ,been there done that ,,, it may seem a little tough but life is bigger than we think.

Hmm, well, not calling/writing does speed up the process of the break-up. I've found that distance helps (whether it's in regards to communication or miles) because then you don't waste your time trying to calm each other down or risk saying more hurtful things.

Yes, the only way to really get over someone is to have no contact at all. I'm going through a break up right now so I KNOW what it feels like. I'm better today, but I still miss her sooo badly. But again, you must not have any form of contact with him or you'll never be able to get over him. Wish you luck....and wish me luck too.

If you know the relationship is over break all ties.Distance can be harder if you run into them more but if you can avoid emails, calls, places they go its best.Whatever yo9ur decision was to end this I am sure yu had good reasons and stick to it and dont second guess yourself

If two people want to make the relationship work...they will communicate with each other and make each other feel good and happy. Long distance is a difficulty...but people living together have problems communicating. so what does distance have to do with your relationship in particular. ask urself that.
