The first metal tools, were just impoved on versions of already existing tools the early nomadic human used.

Metals would have been for decoration or ornaments, rather than knives

The first sign of copper being used is about 6000 BC. It exist both as native and
in a combined state (as malachite). Copper appears to have been much more common that
gold or iron. All earliest known metal artifacts are of native copper.

I did a search for early metallurgy

good luck

the discovery of metal occured at the end of the stone age so no one really knows.
the first metals were found when the copper ore rocks surrounding a fire got hot enough for the copper to melt out and the copper solidified when the campfire cooled. the most likely first metal item would probably have been jewelry, possibly just a disc of copper on a grass, leather or sinew necklace.

the first made metal item would probably have been a bracelet or similar.

the first metal tool would probably have been a knife

The first use of metallurgy took place in 6000 B.C. to make jewelry and adornments (gold).

The first use to make a utilitarian item wasn't until 4,000 to 6,000 B.C., when copper tools were made. The copper was annealed (heated, cooled, and heated again) which made it much stronger. This process was later used to create stronger iron and bronze, as well.

Probably a knife made of copper,or some sort of jewelry. It is possible for axe or shovel. They are the most useful tool in the stone age . The problem with copper is that it is soft, so I doubt they would make axe or shovel. Copper is the most common metal found naturally.

I believe the Bronze age was the first metal age, so it would probably have been a Bronze item, like a spear head or arrow head if it was a weapon. If for farming it would have been something like a plow or hoe, something to work the land with.

I think it was a knife, because they are just flat bits of metal sharpened on a stone, very easy to make, unlike spoons and forks.
