Well, it depends on where you live and the airline that you fly on. Like me, I live in San Francisco and I once took a trip to Vietnam to Ho Chi Minh City on United Airlines and it took about 20 hours, counting the waiting period between flights to transfer. When I took the same trip to Vietnam on China Airlines, transfering to Vietnam Airlines it was only 13 or 14 hours because there was no waiting period for a transfer between flights.

It takes us from Detroit around 26 hours. We usually have a lay over in Hong Kong for a few hours before we fly on to SaiGon.

From San Francisco to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), for example, it usually takes just over 17 hours with one stopover. Many flights require two stopovers, however, in that case it'd take anywhere from 23 to 30 hours.
