If a stranger was in the house when you were babysitting...?

You were baby sitting and you were basically miles away from neighbours, the kids are asleep and your just browsing the house. Suddenley you notice some one outside, your all alone. No neighbours for miles. The stranger is looking around the house (outside), then the you here the alarm go off! You PANIC and.. your turn to answer!

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm basically copying from the movie When a Stranger Calls. Basically you were babysitting in THAT house.

I pick up my cell phone and dial 911.

If the person had any business around the house, he would have knocked on the front door.

OMGoodness what wud u do if u were reading yahoo answers in the psychology section and some1 posted some hypothetical question about babysitting and some1 getting in the house? Imagine u are miles away from anything remotely like a topic-relevant question and ur just browsing the psychology questions and u don't have any weapons or whatever, and the question poster doesn't seem to understand what topic this is, and the question has nothing to do with psychology, and then u PANIC and... then what?! AAAAA!

Call 911 and grab the nearest sharp or blunt object (kitchen knife,baseball bat...), take these and gather the kids to a room with a strong door and lock, preferably with a high window, if any.
This is why every house should have a gun.

Edit: If it weren't for the kids I say go with pirategirl's answer, come into my house and I'll blow a hole in your chest with a 12 guage, no hesitation at all, whether you're armed, unarmed, male, female, 12 or 60.

i beat the fool up one side and down the other with my louisville slugger. i'm not a "flight" person, i'm a "fight" person.

check this out...when i was 13, i went on a babysitting job way up in the mountains...they were friends of my aunt, that i had never met. it started to get dark, and i heard fierce growling noises coming from outside. i got the baseball bat and a flashlight and started looking around. it got louder when i got to the garage...i turned on the light, and they had a freakin full-grown mountain lion in a cage. i've never been a screamer, but i did wish i could've let out a good scream that time!! and they couldn't understand why they couldn't keep a babysitter. lol.

first, cut out all the lights, most people don't come in with night vision glasses,if you can open the door opposite of the one he came in, like you went outside,take the phone and go to the kids room, put a chair or some thing infront of the door.or pile a bunch of toys junk in front of the door so if he opens it he''d fall over it, open the window like you had climbed out,if the kids or small put them in the closet and I hope you have a gun or a bat, call 911, as soon as you pick up the phone as you are opening the front door, and pray...and if he finds you...don't be afraid to protect yourself and the children...if he's got plans to kill you....fight til the death........

Call 911 - what else? And if the alarm has gone off, then it seems to me the monitoring service is already busy contacting the police - an unmonitored alarm isn't much good, after all.

I would call the police straight away and lock myself up in a room with the kids until the police comes.

dial 911 imediatell usually they can help while you hide somewhere or if you are brave enough
drop something really hard on the floor without that stranger seeing it so it make a loud or better still explosive sound and scream your hear out loud. hopefully that will scared that stranger away.
