I never saw the dude take a drink from the can, but he was holding it out openly in his hand. Once we passed each other, I saw a cop car about 4 lengths back, what should I have done, if anything?

You should have called 911 and let the dispatcher know there was a unit extremely close. Even if he wasn't drinking right then, it's against the law to have an open container in the car.

Don't beat yourself up over it, whats done is done. Personally, I would have called nonemergency dispatch for the police. I have done this before and I know, its major buzz kill for that guy, but drinking and driving is reckless and wrong. I'm not sure what the laws are in other states, but I know that in NM its illegal to even have an open container in your car, so either way their breaking the law. Next time, assess the situation and make a choice. Thats all you can do.

You should have ran the guy with a beer off the road just like in a CHiPs episode. Then got out of the car and hog tied the criminal. Then waive down the cop. I'm sure he would have appreciated it and you could rest assured you did your civic duty in making the highway safe!

Call the police with a good description. Don't try to chase the guy or anything like that cuz he might get violent.

strong scotch (Johnny Walker black, Glenfiddich) is fairly manly even as taken over the rocks. this is not sweet, yet in case you enable it sit for slightly, so as that the ice melts, this is gentle. yet another quite accepted "manly" drink is red Bull and vodka.
