You may be one of the people who has to deal with crippling morning (noon and night) sickness in the first trimester of your pregnancy. Your body is currently producing more hormones, including progesterone, that make you feel sick to your stomach. I suffered a bad case of pregnancy nausea, and I was sick all day. I was prescribed several different medications, but I found that none of them worked for me. I still ended up losing about 10 pounds (but I'm in my third trimester now and the baby is okay so far - so don't worry too much about the baby's health. It's getting what it needs right now.)
The only thing that got me through the day was listening to my body. If the only thing that appealed to me was crackers, then I ate them without feeling guilty about nutrition because I was unlikely to hold down anything healthier.
One thing you MUST do is try to drink fluids (even if they seem nasty) and look for signs of dehydration - dark urine, lethargy, dizziness, etc. If you show signs of dehydration at any point, go to the emergency room for fluids. This is only likely to be a problem if you start vomiting.
4 weeks does sound pretty early to be so sick, so your sickness may get a little worse before getting better. But it's good to keep in mind that the second trimester gets better for almost all women.
As for your husband, just explain to him that you are having a hard enough time keeping your food down, let alone feel romantic.
Good luck! You will get through this.

You may want to go to your doctor and have your hormone levels checked. Its possible that you may be carrying twins (or more!) if you're this responsive so soon. Then again, I'm only 9 weeks and I started having a food aversion at about 5-6 weeks. Perhaps you're farther along than you realize (it happens).

Everything you described is very normal... my boyfriend had me make goulash and the moment the beef hit the skillet I felt ill. I haven't actually gotten sick yet (thank God!), but I can't be around ANY grease frying and haven't tried to cook anything since that day. Ugh.

Congradulations on your pregnancy! To start with the N/V sensations, even though you feel sick and the thought of food makes you feel terrible, you need to eat. Eat small amounts every 4 hours or so and eat things that dont upset your stomach. The longer you go without eating, the worse you will feel. Try breads and ginger. As your pregnancy progresses, your HCG hormone levels continue to rise. This is what directly contributes to your symptoms including irritablility. About 12 weeks into your pregnancy the levels will begin to decrease, at that time your symptoms may get better. Good luck

nausea is one of the sad but true side effects of pregnancy... not everyone gets it, but for those of us that do.. it can be really bad for a long time, or it can just.. go away halfway through the pregnancy. Its worst in the start.. so know that it will get "better" although it might not go away altogether. It can be triggered by sight, smell... I couldnt go in my kitchen some days because the smell of dirty dishes or the garbage can was too much, even looking at them made me ill. I also still cant watch someone else eat, or listen to someone else eat, unless I am also eating. (im now 36 weeks along!) so your morning sickness might not go away at all.
Dont feel bad about feeling irritated, thats just part of having all these new hormones rushing around in your system. Your husband should understand that you are in a temporary state of great discomfort... temporary being the key word. it does all kids of funny things to your sex drive and your mindset twords sex and twords him. things will get back to normal, but ne needs to let you have space!

Ginger works wonders for nausea, but not when you are pregnant; it can cause a miscarriage. Try to stay away from any stimulants. I had the same problem too, I ended up having hyeremeses, busted a blood vessel in my throat and lost 15 pds. Gained it all back of course, but had to be put on 3 different meds before they found the right one. If it is bad for you, ask about Zofran, it is very safe during pregnancy and works very very well with out the side effect that Phenergan has (IE sleepy).

Ginger works wonders, either ginger biscuits or ginger beer, I also found that dry Sao's (crackers) were pretty good too. If you aren't eating alot then make sure you take vitaminC and iron tablets to give bubz some nourishment, bare with it is about all u can do apart from that and just know that it doesnt last forever and think of the final outcome when ur holding the precious little bundle that you created! Goodluck!

Try eating a couple saltine crackers in the morning...that made a difference the whole day for me. You can also sip 7UP or lemon juice mixed with soda water or even a little pickle juice. When you are pregnant your stomach can usually be settled with a light salty snack like saltines or an acidic drink with lemon or something containing vinegar like pickle juice. Good luck and congrats!

Talk to your doctor, he can write a prescription for something for nausea. you might even talk to someone at the health food store as there are herbal remedies as well. I was sick my entire preg and didnt learn until the end that there are things you can take so that you dont have to suffer. I lived on crackers and oatmeal for 9 months. Take crackers to bed with you so they are right there beside you when you wake up. As far as sex? Some women want to have more sex when preg and some want none at all. I couldnt stand to be be touched and my husband wasnt understanding about it. He felt rejected. Try to explain to him that it isnt personal that it just your body changing. Maybe he will be sensitive. Explain to him that you wont always feel this way.

I have to say. I am glad Im not the only one. but yes its normal. Im 16 weeks and still the same.

I find for me, Mash patatoe works and ginger ale.
But if you want to VO. Then theres really nothing that will make it stop just maybe help it for a bit.

Good Luck and CONGRATS. Think of the baby at the end. Its worth it.

Thats just how pregnancy is. Just give it a few days. Your nerves are going crazy. Oh and try to relax. Take a warm bath or do something you enjoy. Congrats on the baby, I'm a new mom too. If you ever need to talk email me at rhiannaeggleston@yahoo.com

Take care ;)
