Well I'm 20 years old and live on my own. My mom is the same way and she just loves and cares about you. a way to get around her calling you all the time. call her 1 time while your out. If it is bothering you alot just find a nice way to tell your mom she is calling too much or you could do it in a reverse way show her how it feels to keep being interupted during the day. About the food she is just looking out for you. I think it is sweet.
If you really want to break her heart then fine I will tell you a nice way to tell her mom your smothering me. Take your mom out to lunch or dinner one day and ask her can you to talk without her getting upset ,just let her know that it is something that has been sort of bothering you alot. Tell her mom I appreciate you taking care of me and sacrificing but mom I'm getting older now and I need a little bit more freedom. mom when your at work and you call home to check in on me I appreciate it but can you not call me so much during the day. I don't mind talking to you everyday but not as much as you call me. you call at least 7 times a dayfrom your job alone. I feel like your treating me like a little child and I'm not anymore.

Are you at uni? If so, you will be leaving for university soon after the holidays and you'll be away from her. If you live with her while you go to class, then remember after you graduate then you'll be away.
Or, tell her you're not a baby anymore. That always works. I am 18 myself but I am still in school and my mother can be annoying. But I remember that I am not always going to live with her.

It may not do any good TO tell her anything. My husband is 39 years old and his mom is still that way. I honestly just don't answer the phone half the time. If its important or an emergency she will leave a message. You don't need an excuse for not answering, I just say I didn't want to answer it.

I always tell my son, who is 16, that I'm going to be up his butt for the rest of my life, so he should get used to it. Just try to be patient with your mom, she's probably having a hard time letting you grow up.

1) Don't answer the phone all the time.
2) Move out. Once you're paying your own bills and buying your own food, she won't have to call all the time telling you what there is to eat.

tell her to get a boyfriend, or shag her husband, whichever applies. she has no life right now and so she wants to live vicariously through you so she can feel young again, and thus feel good about life.
if she rings, DONT ANSWER, when she asks why not, tell her, "because i have my own life now mom, and time is limited".
she has "empty nest syndrome" im assuming, meaning her youngest child is no longer a child and she cant deal with it, she needs a hobby too.

She is just caring for you, she loves you very much. What if she dies tomorrow? What'll happen? You'll be regretting yourself.
