it depends region to region and the prevaling economy. for instance there is a boom in the indian real estate market. a person who had invested lets say 100$ in land before three years would be making atleast 300$ in prime locations. that is a 200% percent grwoth on investment. but in normal scenario it is usually around 10-12% but still very difficult to judge. a good indicator is if the stock market is going strong there are all the possibilities of the real estate market to start moving upwards...

Some make millions and many are going bankrupt -
This is not a job at McDonalds where they all get a paycheck . . . this is investing . . .
And just like stocks, some make $$ and some loose lots.

A lot,it depends on how much you invest of course but the yield is tremendous.
