Frankenstein would probably be the most memorable, but I remember seeing a trilogy where, in one of the stories, he played a Russian patriarch who went out to kill a vampire. He told his family that if he did not return before the stroke of midnight on a certain day, they had to kill him because he would be a vampire.
He came home a few moments after midnight and the family let him into the house. you can figure out the rest.
It was fascinating because it pitted familial love v. protection against evil.

My favourite was Bride of Frankenstein. There was also one about a Mummy where he did not play a monster and was OK.
Overall, I preferred Bella Lugosi and Lon Chaney.

Probably playing Frankenstein's monster and for that BRIDE of FRANKENSTEIN is more fun than FRANKENSTEIN. But for performance check out TARGETS.
