The iPOD nano is without doubt the sexiest player around but to be honest the sound quality is pretty poor.

I'm sure other people have there own opinion as to the best sounding player but I've been using the sony NW-a1000 for over a year and its amazing.

True its not as small as the nano and the sonic stage software is pretty poor but at the end of the day you're buying a player to play music and that should be your number 1 consideration.

Sony have been making walkmans for years and have constantly been improving the hardware and walkmans are known for superior bass responses

If you do buy the sony though you should remove the volume limiter as this greatly improves the sound quality

And use decent earphones like the fontopia ones which fit inside your ear

The ipod nano 2 Gig is designed to hold 500 Songs and costs £99 plus vat from Apple website - see the link above. Its easy to use and very compact / stylish. Also if you are buying as a gift - the ipod has much more street cred.

Aple Ipod Most widly accepted http://www.apple.com/ipod/
Zune More integrated with windows since its from microsoft and MP4 player http://www.zune.net/en-US/meetzune/device.htm
or third party MP3.
YOur main concern is how to get music on there. Both Ipod and Zune are easy to use but ipod supports less music formats.
Second concern space. Both have great harddrive space.
Third usability: bothare easy to use.
Battery: Both have good battery life
THese are major concernswhen looking for any MP3 player.

go for a samsung YP-Z5 mp3 player in either 2GB (around £99 ) or 4GB storage( £120 ish if you shop about a bit)I have one and the battery lasts for about 14 hours between charges with heavy usage, its small ,light stylish, and really easy to use a match for the ipods for sure and it sounds amazing too.you can even store photos on the unit..check www.amazon.co.uk

Take an ipod nano. It can store 1000 songs and photos. It is for 100 US dollars and you can hear it for 24hrs and then put it for charging for 4hrs. It is very easy to use and understand. It is smal and very easy to carry around and its really neat. This is the best.
