EGYPTIAN ARABIAN

2007-01-01 22:22:47 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

It can't be Thoroughbred because Thoroughbred blood has been mixed and changed around so much since many other breeds came into existence. The Morgan (the first American breed) was used to enhance the Thoroughbred in the 19th Century.

If I'm not mistaken, you are asking which breed is the first "complete" breed that isn't still being modified today. (Granted, breeders seek to "modidy" their line through selective breeding, but that doesn't generally include mixing unrelated breeds.)

That'd have to be the Arabian. (Other early breeds include the Mongolian Steppe ponies and the Europian Knight's horses.)

Arabians are indeed an ancient breed but when you throw in "man made" it confuses what you are asking..

The Arabian was the first clearly recognised true and pure horse breed, clearly the most beautiful of all as well!!! Actually the Thoroughbred was bred from Arabians mostly, see this site:

Your question is a little confusing. If you are asking what is man-made most ancient breed of horses, that I can't answer. If you are asking what the most ancient breed of horses that are alive today, this I can answer. It is the Exmoor Pony. Shetland Ponies are the second most ancient breed alive today.

man made breed I would think thourobreds because all horses originated from arabians and if you go to allbreedpedigree.com type in any registered horse they almost all go back to tb's then arabs after that arabs are recognized as the first breed of horses
