If your monitor is a crt or picture tube monitor, its cashed! The red gun took a dump and nothin short of a new monitor will fix it! Even if it COULD be fixed, you would pay twice what a new monitor would cost!

Sorry dude or dudette, whatever you are. I am in total agreement with Dr. House. If you have a CRT monitor and your red has gone, chances are the red gun took one huge dump and packed up. Mine did the same (I had an old 19in CRT monitor) and the blue went on mine. Interesting trying to watch TV though. Even Black and white didnt show up properly!!!

My suggestion matches his, nothing short of a new monitor will fix this, and if you try to get it fixed, it will cost you an arm and a leg...plus a couple of toes, a finger or two, a kneecap and your left thigh! Seriously expensive.... don't do it!

Try slapping the side of the monitor. If the red comes back, it is probably a connection (maybe solder on the board). It is usually cheaper to replace the monitor unless you know of someone who does computer monitor repairs. It is rare that the display tube (CRT) is bad, but possible. Also disconnect the vga plug from the computer and re-connect it. Could be poor contacts.

This could just be a broken wire on the cable from the monitor to the PC or your graphics card.
If poss, try the monitor on a different comp or plug the comp/cable into a different monitor.

If it is the monitor then you are buying a new one.
