do not give charity

Many people do not know this and big corporation charities won't tell you this but.........you do have the right to stipulate exactly what your donation is to be used for. As an example If you send a generic donation to Big Brothers Association, your money can be used to pay staff, electric bills, etc. However, if you give your donation with a clause that says this money has to be used to buy clothes for a child, the charity must abide by what you requested. When I give donations, I always stipulate exactly what I want my money to be used for. I believe corporations can donate corporate funds but individuals money should be used the way it was intended. For the person who wrote I help people directly but get no tax deductions........you might consider this as an alternative as it is tax deductable this way and you still doing what you want in the end.

Stop makeing Corporate Charities and the abuse will stop. If a Charity has to Incorporate that means they are not a Charity they are a Corporation, any Corporation should besubject to the same tax and fees as any other corporation.

Because it was difficult to ascertain the bonafides of individuals soliciting help, it was advised to discourage direct charity and to institutionalise the service to deserving people... But over time, the institutions so formed - and forming in ever greater number - also needed test of bonafides... as a significant number of them became not merely commercial - which could be understood since the social workers also had their families and needed decent remunerations - but acutely exploitative...

You may think of a social or more formal official audit... then the watch dogs may also become corrupt... I recall the following saying of Mother Teresa : "Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God - the rest will be given".

today every act needs to be monitored to make sure the intended goal is achieved. this holds good to any philanthropic gesture also. it is imperative that a charity is monitored to make sure it reaches the intended person and is used for the right cause. i think this is one way to stop the misuse of charity

I stopped giving to organized charity and started giving directly to those who I know needed it. The drawback is that it isn't tax deductible anymore, but at least the money goes where it is needed.
