Preemptive war is illegal under the United Nations (UN) Just War Theory. However, if there is an "imminent threat of danger," then waging war does not violate the Just War Theory. Therefore, the supposed Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) was the "imminent threat," even though it was make believe, it prevented the Iraqi invasion from being preemptive and violation of the UN Just war Theory. It surely seemed preemptive to me and many others. There was strong opposition to the war throughout the UN. The United States (US) refuses to participate with the international courts, or the US could be tried for violating the Kyoto Protocol threaty, war crimes and because of the Guantanemo Bay prisoners' human rights infractions, including torture and failing to provide hearings and allow the prisoners to participate in hearings and face the evidence against them.

Dangerous ground -- this invading countries over "preceived threats" !! Brand NEW ground for the American policy machine--had NEVER been done before !! And, when it worked out that the preceptions had been wrong---came all of the shifting the view to the "horrors of the Saddam regime" thing--and now that Junior no longer has the focus of his anger around --- we still have a broken country in hand to some how put back together while it is still coming apart----tricky business this-----and all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put humpty together again !!!! So, seems that fairytales DO come true after all !!!!

How come I never hear you people complaining about Iran and Syria, which sponsor terrorism that kills thousands, or the genocide in Africa that kill thousands every year, or when Saddam killed thousands of Kurds with Nerve gas, (which is a WMD btw) Why can the dictator of North Korea starve thousands and thousands of his people to build his military do you not complain? I see Al-Qaida cutting off American heads with a sword, slowly, while the victim screams. burning prisoners alive, blowing up markets with human bombs killing civilians by the hundreds, yet you want to rant and rave about the one person with the guts to stop them. Compare how our soldiers are treated before you complain about the boy scout camp in Cuba.Sorry Cynthia- There is no human rights violations there, they are not due the same legal rights as a US citizen. The militants were not in uniform and by the Geneva accord we can execute every one of them on the spot. They get three meals a day, prayer mats, a Koran, and medical treatment. Our soldiers get executed by beheading, hanging, burning and being drug through the streets behind trucks. Complain about that too, or is it okay to maim, murder, torture, use kids as bombs, hide behind women when you fight as long as you are not American?

The law allows whatever the citizens allow it to allow. If we really cared as a nation what our leaders do, we could MAKE them stop. Consider that about 5 million people are state, federal and military employees (probably loyal). Consider also that we in the USA have 300 million people (true, most are either very young or pretty old). That many people can vote with their fists (and by abandoning the infrastructure, causing it to shut down).

If more than 20 million workers went on strike until the war in Iraq ended, I would suspect our leaders would do more than make speeches about eventually leaving that area.

It's legal to kill Kurds if Kurds just lie down and hope their oppressors' bloodlust subsides. Just like it used to be legal to kill Arabs. Just like it used to be legal to kill Jews. Just like it used to be legal to kill Christians.

Humans kill. Sometimes it's murder. What are we going to do about it?

According to the President's use of signing statements, the Patriot Act, and the Military Commissions Act, the President now will make all decisions regarding legality, and has the divine power to simply ignore any scientific or factual basis behind any opposing viewpoint.

why do I never read of anyone on Yahoo Answers condeming the murder of 300,000 Kurds.

People are very quick to attack Blair and Bush but seem happy to airbrush the parts of history their liberal minds find convenient to forget.
