They beat most likely the second best team in the country by 14 pts. Arguably the best team Ohio St. beat them by less points and had the luxury of playing Michigan at home. Unless Florida pulls off a big upset, USC is at least the second best team in the country.

USC blew it by losing to an average UCLA team. Now if there was a playoff system, I think USC might be playing Boise St (based on today's games) for the title. Ohio State is a little overrated.

One of the arguments against the playoff is that it makes the bowls meaningless. Cal would have been in the Rose bowl with Wisconsin, which would have been a good game. You could have had Ohio State, MIchigan, USC, Boise State, LSU, Notre Dame, Louisville, and Wake in a playoff system. Bowls suck because they reward schools that travel well such as ND, Iowa, etc.

It is just like Carroll said they didn't deserve a shot at the title. They just were not consistent enough this year. In a playoff format maybe USC wins out but under the current system they are not #2. When they bring there A game they are almost unbeatable but the problem is sometimes they don't bring the A game like Oregon St and ucla.

As I remember, USC lost to Oregon State and UCLA. USC showed that they were better than UM in this one game, both UM and USC beat ND, but ND beat UCLA. If all teams played their best in every game who the hell knows who's the best?

When Ohio State beats Florida, if I were an AP voter, here would be my final five:

1.) Ohio State
2.) LSU (assuming they destroy Notre Lame)
3.) USC
4.) Florida
5.) Wisconsin

I believe Boise St. has an argument there. USC killed Michigan, but i think the loser of the OSU/Florida game should be #2

I agree.

The BCS has not done us any favors with the way they schedule the "National Title" game.

Boise went undefeated and won the Fiesta Bowl. They could arguably be the National Champ.
