His fate was probably sealed when he failed to defeat Iran for America. Then when he invaded Kuwait, he fell into a trap set by America who failed to give him the support he expected and instead turned on him. America then, with its ability to control public opinion, told the world that he, who had been feted by America a few years before, was the world's worst tyrant and they trumped a charge of events that avioded inspection of how much America had contributed to Saddam's brutality. Like Bob Dylan said a long time ago, Only a Pawn in their Game..

More likely left wing governments hatred of right wing military dictatorships. Even though they are against Capitol punishment, they are coward enough to let the Iraqi's humiliate Saddam in public on their behalf. The 'Court of Human Rights' in the Hague is only there to punish those who transgress against left wing dogma.

Few people have commented that Saddam would have been 70 years old in about 4/5 months, I think. The age when Iraq no longer executes people. Isn't that the real reason for the cynical speed of his trial and execution.

The US have actually pushed for delay of the execution. He was executed on of some kind of Muslim holiday which execution is really prohibited so the US pushed for delay. But Malaki, Shiite president of Iraq went with it anyways to show he is not puppet of the US and to demonstrate his authorities in his country. Oil is not only thing people see there. There's more to it than that.

yep! he was the only man that could have help get Iraq out of this state but the Americans made sure he was 6ft under....
I'm not a fan of Saddam but i think his killing is going to be very bad for the Iraqi people.. America wins

montarthre-- the things that he got hung for was crimes that happen 20yrs ago.. i do not approve but from what i hear he changed his ways and ruled his country much better then now. you can not punish someone for something they did in the past.. that is like saying all criminals are guilty even if they repent and have change.. who are v to judge?

on the grounds that we and God knows what an anus is i think of that's not a sin, yet, stealing is so basically ask God to forgive you for that....yet I guess you will desire to ask for for this reason lots extra forgiveness than that, seeing as you're out at 3 am working the streets. that's not a severe answer.
