"Redneck" isn't directed at poor people. It's directed at willfully ignorant people who are anti-intellectual, racist, and xenophobic. In other words, it's directed at a specific attitude held by a small portion of white people within the United States, not against anyone on the basis of their wealth or ethnicity.
I know a woman who is quite well off, who dresses in the finest clothes and drives the finest car, but who is hateful towards people of other cultures, who only received a 9th grade education because she was too busy doing drugs and sleeping around to bother with high school -- which she thought was just for stupid eggheads -- who hates all foreign food and laughs at foreign cultures, who is only amused by country music, light beer, and NASCAR, and who is currently involved in a very nasty divorce with her husband (even her lawyer resigned because she's so nasty) and is using their child as a tool to take vengeance on him. I don't care how rich she is, how fancy she dresses, or how brown she gets in her fake tanning booth, she is redneck trash. She has no morals, no sense of charity or empathy for others, and no taste. And saying so doesn't make me a bigot; it just makes me observant.
On the other hand, my Grandmother on my Mother's side was raised on a farm and ran a farm her whole life, in addition to working full-time in a tire manufacturing company in Mississippi, but she is as charitable and as kind as they come. Oh yeah, and she votes Democrat. She may be a bit of a hick, but she is no redneck.

No "rednecks" are usually the ones people view as America's bigots.
In my experience, "rednecks" are usually lazy, uneducated, inbred southern people who lack sound personal hygene habits and and have little sense of values.
In my opinion there aren't that many in the USA (at least, I haven't met many when I visit America) but I was amazed when I was over in Europe and Asia that they figured the average American was like Larry the Cable Guy.
That might be because the American president talks like ol' Larry too.

Bigots would be the wrong word.
However, by lumping around 50% of the country together and calling all of them ignorant and bigots, you have become what you decry.
Bravo.

As elitists who think they're smarter than others, they can do whatever they want and it's not supposed to be judged or criticized.
