Why do we use the term "Post Office" instead of something else? What was the origin of this term?

The postal system originates from the ancient world where government couriers would travel from one place to another, change horses, and continue on, thus carrying important information over long distances quickly. In the Roman Empire from the name of the stations in which mail was distributed and messengers' routes crossed, derives the Latin name of mail, Posta (originally posata or pausata = place of rest) because in these stations messengers used to rest during their voyages

Kobe-she didnt get it because of New Year's and also all govt offices were closed in observance of the death of former Pres Ford. She'll probably see it Friday.

i dont knoe why my girlfriend still didn't get my letter and i mailed it last thursday December 27, 2006 and it is very important, i sent it from Cali to New York, and it is January 2, 2007 and she still didn't get it grrr..... please e-mail me back and tell me why
