To redress the balance caused by years of repression.

I'm not gay, by the way, but a former colleague who actually was, said that I was so far into the closet, I was in Narnia!

May be he fancied himself as a comedian!

Raymo hit the nail on the head! The only ones giving a feck are:
1. Homophobes and religous bigots.
2. Hetrophobes making sure the gay community is being adequately represented.
With Ramo, and others, I appreciate the wit, insight, and occasionally the fun flaming that occurs.
May greater tolerance be seen in 2007 and beyond!

I think you would be surprised to find out just how many gay people that there are these days , some take the shock away by saying that they are BI , I person in every 3 is happy to be gay , so If its not your two mates that are gay it must be you,
the stigma no longer exists
When I was younger it was illegal
The attitude now is tough if you dont like it .
Sorry if you get offended

Because the straight applicants don't have anything original to say, and because of this screwed up political correctness and attempts to ensure everyone is represented.

I don't think they are solely given work because they're gay - in most instances. But in case you didn't notice there are a few gay people around these days

Well as a gay person let me tell you that I watch television to be entertained, to be informed and sometimes to be educated. I don't waste my time wondering if every or any presenter/actor/entertainer is gay straight, does it with the dog or what.
Are you giving us a little more information than we need dear?

Oh my God! You mean gay people have the right to be represented in society, too? Gee. Thank you. How can I show you how grateful I am that you have acknowledged me?
