Without Manning, the colts would be a bad team. Without LT, the Chargers would still be a good team. So I think Manning is the MVP. Anyone agree?

There is a very good case for this, made here:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6316138

Summarily, "The award should go to Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who has reached the point in his career where he has been so great for so long that his greatness is now taken for granted." And below, the case is made that Peyton Manning was actually more valuable in 2006 than he was in 2004, when he threw for 49 touchdowns in only 15 games:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6327158

From the article: "Of course, [in 2006] Manning had a lower completion percentage, fewer yards, and only two-thirds as many touchdowns as he did [in 2004]. How could this season come out ahead of Manning's 49-touchdown dream year? Three reasons:

1) Manning had his best year ever as a scrambler, scoring four times on the ground.

2) Indianapolis played a much harder schedule of opposing defenses in 2006. Jacksonville and Tennessee were much better than they were two years ago, and the AFC East and NFC East had some tough pass defenses.

3) Manning only played 15 games in 2004, sitting out the final game to rest for the playoffs. If Manning had not played the final game this year, he wouldn't have [bested his 2004 value].

You may also be asking how Manning ended up so far ahead of Drew Brees when their conventional stats are quite similar. Strength of schedule has a little bit to do with that, but mostly it's about opportunities. Because the Colts' run defense was so bad, opposing offenses spent a lot of time keeping Manning off the field. The Colts ran only 148 offensive drives all year, not counting take-a-knee drives at the end of a half. That's the lowest number in at least a decade, which is as far back as our drive stats go. The only other team below 160 drives was the 2005 Colts, with 156. The 2006 Saints, on the other hand, ran 173 drives just through 15 games. Brees had many more opportunities to pass the ball and put up those numbers."

Im a huge Peyton fan but i disagree with you, sure the Colts would be bad wtihout Manning, with that awful defense, but the Chargers offense is so great because of LT, yes Rivers is good but only because he has no pressure because if things get rough the ball will go into the hands of the MVP of the league this season LT and he will run 80 yards untouched for a TD....and if a player breaks scoring records and leads the entire league in rushing then that player will be MVP....mabye next year for Peyton

WITH Peyton Manning the Colts are a bad team. He calls too many passing plays all season long. Then, when it is playoff time and the game changes where you need to be able to run the ball and control the clock... Peyton can't do it. The lineman and the rest of the offense are not ready to flick the switch and become a road-grading team.

You only have to look back as far as John Elway to see a similar circumstance. As soon as they had Terrell Davis, they were able to control the clock, and make their average defense actually look stout at times.

Peyton Manning is not the MVP. Without LT the Chargers would have to rely on Rivers and he would not be able to handle that type of pressure yet. They would be a good defensive team but the offense would only look slightly better than this year's Raiders.

LT should definitely be the MVP. Peyton Manning did have a good season, but it wasn't a record breaking season like LT's. LT set a new single season rushing TD record after only 14 games, not to mention that he got off to a slow start. You cant say that the Chargers would still be a good team without LT, because he plays such a large role in that offense. He can be used easily to set up play actions to give Rivers more time to let his receivers get down the field. Dont get me wrong here, I love Peyton, one of the best QBs ever, but I feel like this season belongs to LT more than anyone else.

No Brady merits it. What does the 2009 Patriots team would desire to do with the 2010 Pats team? asserting the Pats did nicely while Brady became out 2 seasons in the past would not impact this season. maximum of the gang has replaced. they are not a similar team, and his lower back up that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is best his team into the playoffs this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (Cassell) so it is not like he became replaced via a scrub. sure Manning is working with a 2d string of receivers, and it somewhat is showing that without his first string he isn't as elite as we've considered interior the previous. 17 interceptions, maximum of that are actually not the receivers fault. sure against the Chargers he did not have lots time to throw, yet pondering they're between the final bypass end defenses, are you suprised? Brady isn't working with an elite corp of receivers the two. he's have been given 2 rookie tight ends, a throw lower back receiver (branch) a no call 2d 3 hundred and sixty 5 days receiver, and Welker, who's coming off an excellent injury and dropping balls customarily. His famous individual RB had a finished of 117 yds final season, and his 2d RB (Woodhead) is a tiny little castoff from the Jets. He has between the worst ranked defenses interior the league to lower back him up, so the completed interest is on Brady and his rookie offense. The Pats have performed the extra durable schedule against 8 of the ideal 10 defenses interior the league, and gained. This became meant to be a rebuilding 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, yet Brady has lead them to the final record interior the league with minimum skills around him. Brady is the MVP this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, not even close.

No way, LT had the greatest year of any RB in history. He is defintly the MVP. Peyton will lose again in a couple of weeks and this will be a mute point.

If I were voting (and I live in Indy), I would vote like this:
1. LT
2. Drew Brees
3. Peyton Manning

Peyton had his usual hall of fame year but LT was just phenomenal. Drew Brees carried New Orleans out of the cellar. My voting in Peyton Manning would only depend on if he leads the Colts to the Super Bowl.

Yeah i think he should get the award, but it will probably go to LT. His Colts have gone under the radar because of their sad defense, but without Peyton they might not have won 4 games this year.
