I am from Boise, and OF COURSE everyone knows by know that BSU is awesome...
But, here's my question... What do the winners of the Fiesta Bowl get? Besides the recognitition and that sweet trophy...
When I went to SI.com to read about the game, there was a headline that said something about "multimillion dollar win." What does it mean?
Thanks.
Go BSU!

And yes, the game tonight was UNBELIEVABLE.
If you've never been to Boise, let me tell you: We have a LOT of school spirit when it comes to our football team... There is a lot of love here, and tonight was a great night for our little city.

The school will receive millions of dollars from the sponsors of the game (Tostitos in your case). I'm not 100% sure what the school's limits are as far as utilizing the money, but I imagine it allows for better facilities and helps to run the programs within the school.

Here is a synopsis of what last year's Fiesta Bowl loser, Notre Dame used their payout for (as an exaplme of what BSU might do):

"The University will use its $14.5 million payout from the Fiesta Bowl -- less the expenses of traveling to the game -- to support student financial aid, library acquisitions and scientific instruments for the new Jordan Hall of Science, opening late in 2006.

Under Bowl Championship Series rules, Notre Dame, as an independent, got to keep its entire share of the bowl proceeds this year. Teams in conferences had to share their payout with the other schools in their conferences."

Congratulations on your BSU Broncos, that was a game for the ages!

The conference gets i think 22 million dollars if its invited to a BCS bowl game which is split among other members of the WAC in the case of BSU. The players also get little gifts like watches and electronic gear plus i think they get a ring.

They get to share about 15 million dollars with the rest of the teams in their Conferance for playing in the Fiesta Bowl, they would have gotten that regardless if they had lost, but I'm a USC Fan and That game they played tonight was one of the best that I have ever seen.
