Hi,

I live in the US but my biggest dream in life is to live and study in Brazil. The reason for this could take many pages to explain because it's a long story and also, in my opinion, a very beautiful one. Basically, I am not comfortable living in the United States because of the materlistic culture and lack of old-fashioned customs and values. I have been to Brazil and have fallen in love with what I consider the most human, fun, kind, sweet and civilized people in the world (my very personal opinion and without offending anyone). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay there longer since I didn't have enough money and there is no way that as a foreigner I could get a job there. I felt like if I had reached paradise and then brought back to reality and my reality, the place where I live (the US) now looks worse after having touched heaven once. Is there a way I can get some organization to sponsor my studies and living expenses there for at least a year?? Thanks a lot!

find a local brazilian group or a brazilian political leader or a foreign studies leage or any group that has to do with your interests and provide a letter stating your intent and your plans and how you will use your aquired knowledge to help benefit and educate the world. then ask if they will help monetarily support you. remember to thank them for reading your letter. this may or may not work. u might just have to go work at burger king for a year and save up money

I'm Brazilian and I could help you if you write some details about you and your studies intend.
Anyway, let's show you something you must know about Brazil:
1 - Public Universities have really good teaching and everybody wants to get in, but it's too hard to get (believe me);
2 - Portuguese is a hard language to learn and there are many accents in each region of the country.e.g. people from South and North will get difficult to talk sometimes 'cause their (too much) different accent;
3 - Jobs: try IT!!! Why? Because EVERY company needs English speakers. If you want to work in IT, come to Sao Paulo, the centre of IT in Brazil;
4 - If you want a peaceful life DON'T live in the capitals, go to country-side. But if you want a good work (there's exceptions), money, fun (really fun), hard traffic, pollution, people (polite and impolite), civilisation, opportunities, etc... so come to the capitals. I suggest Sao Paulo 'cause I live here;
5 - Most Brazilians want to be like Americans, so you could fell in home sometimes;

Anyway, Brazil is like any country in the world, the tips above are only to warn you. The biggest difference of Brazil to all countries in the world are THE PEOPLE!
As you already know, in the capitals we can find all kinds of people, including bad people, of course. But be sure you CAN'T find people like Brazilian in another place of the world. We LOVE foreign people, we help one each other, we talk a lot :D, we don't care if you're rich or poor, you just need a GOOD HEART (you know?).
Well, I hope it helps you and you're pretty welcome to e-mail me to ask anything about your question.
Good luck!!!
